    new water pump - overheating

An old trick is to have the top radiator hose disconnected from the Tstat housing while filling. The majority of the air will escape and when you start seeing coolant come out reattach the hose and continue filling and bleed with your vents as you normally would. Also while you are running the...

Lots of folks out there bashing the C4...what gives?

I absolutely did not like the looks of the C4. I wanted a C3 but I bought a C4 because it was "there". Well after some time of detailing and feeling the curves I have fallen in love with the C4 and that is what I will have until the end. I have entered in many car shows and for the most part I...

    40th Anniversary Fan Operated tank

That is the AIR pump. I don't know of a fix but I would remove it, disassemble, clean, lube motor and reinstall. Sure couldn't hurt and maybe fix it.

    Question: LT1 Exhaust Manifold Bolts

I had my stock manifolds ceramic coated and did not want raw bolts mounting them so I bought Stage 8 because they are coated. They are as good as safety wire but look much better. I sure wish there were around in the 70's because I sure had one heck of a problem with header bolts on my...

electrical lead cover for alternator connection

When I went to the dealer this past fall I couldn't buy just the boot. Had to buy the complete harness. :mad I believe I got mine at Ecklers. There may be a trick to putting the new cover over the big wire ring terminal but I sure couldn't figure it out. I had to remove the terminal, slip the...

Question: '94 Water Pump Replace: Hard or No??

And another thing. Let the top radiator hose off while filling the system until some anti freeze comes out the hose, then connect the hose. This will eliminate alot of air prior to bleeding the system.

Question: '94 Water Pump Replace: Hard or No??

As for eye sight, I wear bifocals and under most conditions working on a Vette I got to go by feel because ya just can't seem to cock your head back enough to use the bifocal :mad Don't forget to seal the bolt threads as a couple penetrate the water jacket.

New C4 Owner W/ Tech Questions

Hib sums it up for ya. I believe most of us old timers had the same fears as you when we moved into the "computer era" cars. I know I was scared when I made the move but with all the info on the internet you can't find a better source of knowledge. Once you start replacing and fixing you will...

    Metal tubing in cooling system

Another solution could be stainless steel tubing which also can be soldered together with 5% silver solder (purchase at HVAC supplier, like United Refrigeration) and when polished is beautiful. Search Truly Tubular for any stainless steel fittings you may need.

    Metal tubing in cooling system

There may be others to chime in here that know better than I but industrial buildings that have chilled water towers which use a glycol (antifreeze) solution are piped with copper tubing with no adverse effects. Refrigeration grade copper is heavier wall than plumbing copper with a much higher...
