Bob, for some reason I don't have the filter...but I will go get a new one along with the valve and see what happens. I still think it might be my vac canister in the front not holding vac.
Jim, thanks...I was going by something else I read which seemed to make sense. That is that it had to be...
Ahhh ha...thanks to all for your replies! Like Bob and Art, I too was thinking of sealing it up. Thanks for the confirmation, John, that the gap is supposed to be there.
I'm still having an issue with getting the correct settings. It's definitely a vacuum issue because when I increased the...
Hello all!!!
Well, I just got done replacing my A/C Heater control and diagnosing a vacuum problem in my '81. It turned out to be the Plenum, which is in the passengers side fender. There's a vacuum line going to the front of it, but when you take it out, there's another one on the back which...
Yes, it is a specialty bulb though, and I can't seem to locate a replacement anywhere. A regular 194 bulb will fit and work...but not as well. The original was like a spot light bulb. The best I can read off the original bulb is 5558.
Anyone know where to find one?

From the diagram, I'm going to say:
LH Rear Speaker (Brn + / Yel -)
RH Rear Speaker (Dk Blu + / Lt Blu -)
The ones I indicated are + are diagramed as darker lines. I am assuming that means the current carrying wire, thus +.
Hope that helps!

I just recently did this in my '81 with the 700R4. I got mine from the junk yard and used the torque converter that it came with. I'm not sure about your crossmember, but the thing that might get in the way is the parking brake pulley. As far as the trans lines, mine were definitely...
Do you see fluid actually leaking from the master cylinder? If so...where? If the rear reservoir is just going down, then there is probably a leak in the rear brakes somewhere (calipers, hoses, etc.) Unless it's actually leaking from the master cylinder itself.
Let me know what the deal is...
Hey, where in LI are you? I'm in Huntington Station and have a pressure bleeder. I'd be happy to bleed you brakes with you. Pressure bleeding is the best way to bleed Vette brakes! I've also been around the block with my fair share of brake problems.

Ok, so I think I got it now. Shorter gears are numerically higher (like 4.11), and taller gears are numerically lower (like 2.87). So, the way to remember it is that it is backwards of what you would think it should be!
Now that we have that straightened out...I feel that I have heard the...
I put a 700R4 from a '93 Firebird in my '81 and I love it. I have the stock 2.87 rear gears.
I must say though, that I could probably use a taller (numerically higher right?) rear gear. At 45MPH I'm only doing around 1000 RPM which makes the engine bog. So around town I try and keep it in 3rd...
Thanks for the info. I thought JB Weld was supposed to be a real steel?
Hopefully I can find a shop locally that I can drive to that won't charge an arm and a leg for a 1 minute welding job. Man I need to learn how to weld!
Thanks again!

The upper port on the radiator that the upper hose connects to is loose, and of course I'm leaking from there. I originally thought it was a hose, but when I took the hose off, I reallized that piece was loose.
It almost seems as if it were made to come out, like there is a ring around the...
