Due to a long story which I won't get into here, my poor '86 4+3 currently thinks it's an automatic. Until I can work out another custom chip setup, I need something close to factory but for a manual transmission...
Anyone selling a MEMCAL that will work for me? I don't care if it's stock GM...
Ok, so probably through some combination of persistance and dumb luck, when I reassembled everything and put the dash back in the car, it lit up. So either I hit the right joints or it randomly started working again. We'll see for how long...
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Next...
Definitely not the bulbs; they all went out at once while I was driving.
I have the main PCB off and I'm looking for cold joints or obviously fried components. No luck so far; will break out the multimeter and see if I can start tracing connections.
Boomdriver, when you talk about the 12-pin...
Been quite a while since I've been on here, but I'm back with questions :).
First off, my digital dash (86) has gone completely dark, although you can still see the LCDs functioning properly in bright light. Most of my research here seems to point to a grounding problem, possibly under the...
We had Yokohama Avid H4's on another vehicle (same tire, different compound) and while they were great for about the first 10k miles, after that they became REALLY slick in the wet. My wife had a pretty major accident that we're attributing to the tires letting go without warning on a wet...
Welcome to the CAC... This site - http://www.corvetteobsession.com/ - has a ton of great info on the 4+3 (its originator was a fixture on CAC before his death). You may want to check the switches on the side of the transmission that tell it what gear it's in, and also have you tried manually...
I put my Prominator in backwards once, and also one pin-pair offset, and both times the car ran fine but threw codes. I honestly can't say what data the ECM is getting at that point...
Do you have an ALDL monitor to see what's going on?

Two thoughts - bad vacuum leak, or loose wire to an injector (possibly from the ECM). I had similar problems a couple years ago and it turned out to be a loose connection on the harness at the ECM for the wiring that controlled the injectors.

The 4+3 was never meant to be a permanent solution - it was a quick low-engineering fix to the problem of providing acceleration AND fuel economy, with the added bonus of a great top end. GM wasn't able to complete their 5 or 6 speed transmission without forcing an even longer delay on the new...
Based on what? Remember, the Callaway Twin-turbo Vettes used stock 4+3's (I think even with the same clutch) and they put out a lot more torque than a stock engine...

If you got a large run of those emblems, I think you'd make a KILLING at Carlisle or another Vette show. I'm drooling and hovering over the wallet, and I'm not even past the planning stages of my garage.
