2016 Corvette ZO6 C7.R Gets Wrecked in Texas

Stupid owner with more money than brains. Happens too often in the Corvette community, sad to say. I like to call it short man or short dick syndrome. They drive their Corvettes way too fast to compensate.

Important! Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant Workers Authorize a Strike

I was kicked out the door at age 59, but thanks to the stock market have a 7 figure nest egg and a paid for house in so Calif. BTW, I have folks beating down my door wanting to buy my house. Things have just changed. Rather than pensions, you have a stock portfolio. Big deal. Yes, like...

Important! Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant Workers Authorize a Strike

What you say is true until the early 80s when mangement learned of new tools: Layoff, part time work, offshoring. Unions could do nothing about keeping wages high if that created products that cost more that the same thing made in Japan or China. Consumer Electronics is what we are talking...

Important! Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant Workers Authorize a Strike

I live in Calif and here, you get OSHA all over if you just stub your toe. Guess it is different for different states.

Important! Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant Workers Authorize a Strike

OSHA does a much better job of policing employee safety. Somehow I think the Union is using employee safety as a scapegoat for other issues they have with management. OSHA fines a company and asks for corrective actions. With a strike, workers go home and watch TV. Which do you think...

Important! Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant Workers Authorize a Strike

GM needs to dump the UAW. Gives the Corvette a black eye. Mangement and workers need to work as a Team to build the best product that they can. That obviously is NOT happening. Move the Corvette factory out of Bowling Green, further south to a Right to Work state.

GM Press Release: Chevrolet to Oversee Restoration of Historic Corvettes

But with car failures, you had the honor of paying $50k for the excitement of having your steering wheel lock at 80 mph. Being mugged or shot you are just a victim of our liberal, anything goes society. At least in the latter case, you get killed for free.

GM Press Release: Chevrolet to Oversee Restoration of Historic Corvettes

Sinkhole Vettes being repaired Good point about at least the cars are going to be repaired. The point about the moms and pops doing the labor for free is that the owner is often the paint and body man and he is willing to do the work as he can as a labor of love. BTW, that ignition recall...

GM Press Release: Chevrolet to Oversee Restoration of Historic Corvettes

Sinkhole Car Repair The purpose of my initial reply was just a counterpoint to the pure adulation that everyone is giving GM for offering to repair these cars. Considering the value of these cars, the cost of the repairs is negligible, even if the total cost for the 8 cars approaches $100k+...

GM Press Release: Chevrolet to Oversee Restoration of Historic Corvettes

Herigage Museum I am sure the Heritage Museum employees do not work for free. Especially if they are required to be Union. Also many auction buyers have more money than brains when it comes to 'buying paint jobs'. Leno is a professional comedian, not an expert in car values/restoration...

GM Press Release: Chevrolet to Oversee Restoration of Historic Corvettes

Heritage Museum You sound like a pumper. When you go to the Heritage Museum, can you look under the hood, check the numbers, open the door and get inside. Any car looks good with a nice paint and wax job. A judging is CERTAINLY REQUIRED. By fellow car experts, collectors and restorers...

GM Press Release: Chevrolet to Oversee Restoration of Historic Corvettes

GM restorations OK. I will take your word for it that GM is CAPABLE of good restorations. I have just seen amazing collections of GM cars (Leno, Otis Chandler, Gilmore, Harrah, Petersen, Rick Hendrick, etc) and NONE of them have their cars restored or maintained by GM. They use their own...

GM Press Release: Chevrolet to Oversee Restoration of Historic Corvettes

GM Restoration. Have they ever been judged by the NCRS, Bloomington Gold or the Average Corvette Club at an NCCC car show. Ever see an NCRS member take their care to a Chevy dealer for a restoration? I rest my case. Have any been sold at a Barrat Jackson auction? Would saying your 1962...

GM Press Release: Chevrolet to Oversee Restoration of Historic Corvettes

Not sue GM is the best for Restoration GM is 'good' at building new cars not restoring old classics. How many classics has GM restored in its history? ZERO? Get a classic Corvette restorer to do the job. Call up NCRS or Bloomington? Gold and get the BEST. PLEASE. GM WILL ONLY BOTCH THIS UP...
