THE VETTE SHOP
I not only remember it---I had work done there several times. Does anyone remember their shop on Telegraph road? How long ago did they disappear? I left Detroit in 1985. :confused
I have a 1966 327/300 roadster with a 4 year old dewitt original style aluminum radiator. I was about to change the antifreeze this weekened which I hadn't done in about 4 years. I know I need the "green stuff" not dex cool orange. Dumb question--all I can find is prestone green antifreeze that...
Can you give me Barry K's we site info? And I just got the CE article. Both sound like great reading. I prefer to not add additional electric fans and hurt my original look. THANKS to all and will let you know how the quest goes.
The Radiator cap is also about two years old when I changed out a lot of the cooling system equipment. After driving a while, I don't notice any hissing or leaking by the cap so I'm guessing it's OK unless there's something more subtle or hidden. Only the expansion tank remains as original. It...
JohnZ,
I have checked the timing (6 degrees BTDC). The distributor and advance were replaced a few years ago and I had a mechanic I trust check it out last spring. I think it's OK but will double check again.
It doesn't seem to lose coolant or very little if it does. This situation happened...
Jeff,
I did have the front plate in place (Texas law) but many vettes here don't have it in place. It's easy to remove. I'll try that and check the hose as well. THANKS!!!
I have a 1966 convertible, 327/300 original motor, no air or PS or PB. I have from time to time had overheating issues in hot city trafic here in Texas. Thus, I have a new Dewitt's radiator, new fan clutch, new 180 thermostat, new hoses and a recently flushed cooling system. I think my gauge is...
REPLY TO KNOCK-OFFS
I have had repro knock-offs on my 1966 small block roadster for 8 years. They look great. As long as you're careful, you should be OK using them. What everyone says about cleaning them, and keeping them that way, is true--tough job--but worth it.
I would suggest you also...
THANKS for the insight; It's a perplexing problem as I had a good mechanic friend check out my water pump and clutch and they're OK. My Radiator was a new Dewitts correct aluminum replacement bought 2 years ago. The shroud is in place and the vacuum advance was replaced last spring.
I don't...
I have a 66 convertible 327/300, no air or much else dragging on the engine. The car's temperature on hotter days (85++) tends to creep up whenever I am at a light for more than 30 seconds. It backs down a little when it start driving again but over a half-hour to hour of this city driving, the...
Thanks for the information---I'll check out that adjustment tonight. FYI--Another source recommended Steve Hackel in Midlothian IL as a great wiper motor repair person.
RE: WIPER MOTOR
Normally, the wipers seem to be OK---they just stuck together because of the pressure of the high wind and rain I had, I think. I was more concerned about finding / repairing the wiper motor should I need to. No supply house I have seen seems to carry them.
