    Open loop.

MAF? One of my kids has a Chevy Express with a 350 and it suffered a failed MAF. It was not cold exclusive but ran as you describe all of the time. You might check the FSM for MAF diagnosis. Good luck PS You don't have to remove the O2 sensor, just disconnect the electrical lead and tie it up...

Help! Heater Core Part 2 (aka Now What!)

Heater doorSSS There are 2+ 'heater doors'. One determines where the air comes out - yours appears to be working. The other determines whether the air is cold or hot - yours is likely stuck. Take the 'module' off of the fan housing (under the hood) and you can see the temperature door...

    Open loop.

O2 sensors They're in the exhaust between the engine and cats, sort of beside the rear of the oil pan. By disconnecting, I meant only the electrical connector. Removing the sensor from the bung is very difficult. Only remove (and tie up away from the exhaust) the electrical connector. Good...

    Open loop.

Open Loop Paul, To evaluate whether it is open loop that is causing your 'cold' poor running, try disabling the closed loop and drive the car after warm up. One easy way to do this is by unplugging either O2 sensor; that is either one that is ahead of the cats. The one behind the cats won't...

    oil pressure switch

Oil Pressure Switch It's in the back of the intake manifold, booger to access. The oil pressure analog gauge sensor is there too, screwed into the other side of a pipe "t".

    Backfire, why?

Cold sputter Paul, Have you checked for codes? It sound like a faulty ECT Engine Coolant Temp sensor (the one that plugs into the water pump) and that may throw a code. 140F is about right for closed loop. There are some threads that describe which pins to connect in the ALDL connector to...

    Replacement Opti

Antifreeze odor John, Before removing the water pump, check the 'flow control' that's in the heater line below the black pressurized tank. The 'flow control' prevents high pressure from reaching the heater core during high revs. The 'flow control' is a plastic part, barely visible in the heater...

96 vette coul have some serious issues.

Welcom Welcome to a great site. You should get a lot of replies on this one. There are several threads that discuss your situation with one wheel sticking out farther than the other. Evidently it is not uncommon. Sometimes the wheel offset is different on rear wheels (they should not be...

    Can't turn to acc.

You must push the key inward, toward the center of the column, before turning the key to the left. Otherwise, it will not turn to ACC.

    Can't turn to acc.

ACC key On most GM cars, my '95 Corvette included, the ACC position is accessed by pushing the key inward while in the 'off' position then turning the key to the left (away from 'on'). Hope this helps.

    Question: Understanding wireing symbol

Cruise Control long shot When checking the switches in the stalk, do not over look the 'set' switch. The cruise control module sets the speed upon RELEASE of the set switch. If there is crud in the set switch so that it can not return to 'normal open', the control module will not set the cruise...

    Possible EGR Problem - Hopefully!!!

Rough idle warm A rough idle warm (not cold) often points to an O2 sensor but with your great gas mileage, look somewhere else first. The EGR should not be active at idle. But they do leak and cause vacuum leaks at idle. It's a pain to remove but blocking it off would be a good test. It will...

    Weatherstripping

Weather strip glue Never did a C4, but several Trans Am T-tops. The original glue pretty well covered all of the contact area between the rubber and supporting surface. Not too thick but thorough.

90 L98 won't start ~ Got Spark and 48 psi at the rail..

No fuel I believe your year utilizes 'batch fire' meaning that all the injectors on one bank fire together. Further, if one injector is kaput (low resistance) the computer will shut down that bank. There are some really helpful injector vendors, one is FIC Injectors (they support some forums...

90 L98 won't start ~ Got Spark and 48 psi at the rail..

No start Welcome to a great site. Sounds like your injectors are clogged or have failed. Check their resistance with the lead removed (I think 16ohms - use the 'search' function above to confirm). If they read ok, they're likely clogged from jellied gas since the car sat for so long. I've never...

    Weatherstripping

Replace weather stripping Tedious job. Take your time and get all of the old glue out. 3M makes a really good glue remover. Good new adhesive too. Many on this forum have complained about 'cheap' replacements having a poor fit. After you get new ones, check their size carefully by holding them...

    Help! Cooling Fan(s) Help Needed

'95 cooling fan removal Sorry, I was so focused on the 'skids' that I didn't go back and check the fan removal starting point. Yes, it says to 'remove or loosen' the 'upper radiator support' (what I would call a shroud) that's in front of and above the radiator. What the FSM calls a shroud is...
