Don't Give Up!
About 2 years ago, my 89 exhibited the exact same behavior. I used the FSM to troubleshoot but it didn't provide any definite answers for this issue nor did I fix the problem.
I read that you have replaced the injectors. Injectors were the eventual source of my problem. The...
See the thread " Hard Start/No start Troubleshooting Log" The easiest check is the injector resistance check. May as well start there. The guy in the 5th response in the above referenced thread is dead on. One bad injector causes the ECU to shut down after the engine catches.
P.S. By the...
Wish I had known about fuel injector connection when I was looking for mine 2 years ago. I bought a set of Accells. So far so good. But who knows for how long.
Closing the loop
I don't like to leave threads open ended, so here's the resolution to the problem. I ordered a reman power brake booster from thepartsladi on ebay. Just couldn't bring myself to pay the additional $200 for an AC Delco. It is a cadmium plated metal unit made by MMB. It is a bit...
Lost vacuum assist on my 89 coupe. Brakes are still functional but it takes a lot of leg power. As soon as I depress the brake pedal I can hear a noise (air). Easier to hear inside the car. From the engine bay I can hear it and it sounds like it's coming from inside the vacuum booster...
Kindaslow - YOu might want to start your own thread about your crossfire issues. I think your post got lost here. There are some Crossfire gurus on the forum - Geekinavette is very knowledgable.
Corvette Emma - Responded to your PM. If I did it, you can do it!
garyG - maybe the throttle...
The thread rises from the ashes like a Phoenix! I agree with Tom. I understand that the injector coil windings are exposed to fuel for cooling. The insulation doesn't like ethanol and breaks down. Also, they are 20 years old. They have seen there expected useful life. While you have the...
We don't need no stinking tuning!
The point was that the car is running perfectly. The L98 was rated at 240 HP and 340 Ft-Lbs of torque at the flywheel. Accounting for drive losses, my results indicate that it is still putting out pretty much rated numbers after 20 years and 89,000 miles. :D...
The guys at Corvette Connection here in Denver offered a free dyno day on Saturday so I took them up on it. My bone stock 89 L98 with automatic put down 212 HP and 296 Ft-Lbs at the wheels. :upthumbs Test Conditions - 5000 feet elevation, 77 degrees F, 25 in-Hg barometric pressure, 13%...

Man, you shouldn't publish pics like that without first entering a post with the standard ten o'clock news disclaimer. "These pics are graphic in nature and may not be sutiable for young children or other Vette lovers.":D
That's bad mojo man but is sounds like it is working...
Water Pump R & R
+1 on changing the lower hose when you do the pump. I changed mine when I changed the pump because I saw no way to do it without the pump off. Those bottom bolts on the A/C bracket were indeed a PITA!
Injector Refurbishing
I have used a company called witchhunter.com for a couple of sets of injectors for the MR2s I run for the kids. Excellent results and service. They flow test, clean them up, replace the o-rings, flow test after and send you back the injectors wth a test report. All done...
Go For It!
Not too bad a project. May I recommend purchasing an AC Delco water pump from thepartsladi on ebay. I got mine for $139. If you do nothing else, make sure you replace the lower radiator hose. I can't see how that's done without the water pump being off the car. I believe the AC...
Welcome!
Welcome to the CAC TEd. Third owner but your first? Don't worry, the facial muscle soreness you've experienced is a result a the new Corvette owners grin. It's chronic but not terminal. 89s :upthumbs ROCK!
Gotta Chime In
I had up to this point resisted the urge to comment on this thread, but it is still getting some play. I am a total, almost militant, skeptic when it comes to environmentalism and particularly global warming.
yadawho - You may in fact be an expert on this subject but your...
