Need advice 1964' Stingray : Mandatory first parts & maintenance list for a long dormant barn/garage project car.

Modern car-oriented oils might have insufficient additives that prevent wear between the the cam and lifters. Many diesel oils still have them. Look for API CJ-4 ratings on the jug. Don't let anybody trick you into using expensive boutique oils. If you've got years to spend reading on the...

Need advice 1964' Stingray : Mandatory first parts & maintenance list for a long dormant barn/garage project car.

Ooops. I can't think of anything worse to store an engine with. Both products will strip oil off metal surfaces leaving them dry and subject to corrosion. Do not try to crank the engine. I'd drain the crankcase and dump the filter. Pull the spark plugs and borescope the cylinders looking for...

    Warning! Blueprint Engines warranty complaint

Not sure, sounds like it's case closed for Dave's issue. They found that the blow-though was out of their control. I gleaned lots of technical info from their post and nothing from the OPs rant. If anything Blueprint's level headed and prompt response may result in some new business for them...

    Warning! Blueprint Engines warranty complaint

Dave, I think you'll find that joining a forum strictly to post a one-sided rant will have little effect, barely worth the typing effort. We've heard your side, but not theirs. Have you tried small claims court?

Question: Too high at the front after replacing rubbers and shock absorbers

That's what I was getting at too, but since they reused the same springs, how is the difference explained?

Question: Too high at the front after replacing rubbers and shock absorbers

Great looking car! In looking at the 'before' picture, the car is actually sitting below OEM ride height at the front. It can be seen that the frame of the car is not level with the ground. This makes me suspect the springs installed are not the orignals and are possibly the aftermarket FE7...

    Help! carburetors

Rochester Quadrajet, the precise part number depends upon engine and transmission options and where the car was first delivered.

Question: Too high at the front after replacing rubbers and shock absorbers

Possibly post a pic of the car for us to see, or measure your car against the factory dimensions shown in the AIM.

    Failed Fuel Mileage Checks

I believe that falls way out of the range recommended by GM. Beware following advice from 'some guy on the internet who said....'

Polyurethane Upper And Lower Control Arm Bushings

If you look up 'discussion boards troll', it's pretty clear that the OP precisely and consistently fits the description. Why People Troll and How to Stop Them It is also obvious that the trolling behaviour is intentional and not accidental. The CAC is just one of a long list of discussion...

    C3 1-1/2" Engine Offset

Again, it's got nothing to do with engine compartment clearance. Straight from the 1963 SAE paper authored by Duntov on the new 1963 Corvette. "To achieve a [47/53 front-rear weight] distribution in this range, the passenger compartment was placed as far back as possible and the engine...

Nor are they similar in construction and materials to a throw-away car filter.

    C3 1-1/2" Engine Offset

If that was a concern, they would have put the steering box on the right too. :chuckle

    C3 1-1/2" Engine Offset

If you mean half shafts, the difference would be zero.

I'm on the fence whether this post or the one about running tires underinflated offers the worst advice.

    C3 1-1/2" Engine Offset

I think in another post you stated that you'll admit when you're wrong. Let's put this to the test. The engines are offset to the right as stated, but it's got nothing to do with the steering box. When designing the independent rear suspension, GM realized by having equal length half shafts...
