    75 Headers????

On the '75 I had years ago, I ran headers with the 400 auto. I had Blackjack AK5000 headers with 3" dual pipes running straight back to a pair of "turbo" type mufflers. Awesome setup. Don't think the make the Blackjack headers anymore. Too bad because afters 3 years of sitting outside there...

    Going to Carlisle?

Elaine, on the website www.carsatcarlisle.com under the corvette event is a list of scheduled events. The show is the NCCC Concours judged show. You do not need to be a member or the NCCC to enter the show. The cars are judged according to NCCC rules, which are different than NCRS rules...

    Going to Carlisle?

There is a judged show at Carlisle. The York County Corvette Club (I am v.p.) does a concours judged show every year. This year we are limiting it to 175 cars. Stop by our tent and say "Hi". I'll be there all day, all three days. Classic (Spencer)

    Mirror Mount

I wish I could recall which tap I used on mine. Mine had a screw in it that had the head busted off, so I had to drill it out first. Talk about sweaty palms and a few grey hairs. I had the correct screws so I just "eyeballed" it against the tap and tried the tap in the good hole first. Somehow I...

76 Tire size and dunlop vs BFG

On my 75 I had, I ran 255/60/15 with no problems. BFG is my tire of choice for cars. Have dunlops off road type tires on my truck. Got 85,000 miles out of the last set. Yep 85,000. Cord wasn't even showing.:D Seriuosly, they lasted forever. I guess it helps that they were rotated every 3,000...

Less Is More: Performance Pitfalls-When Too Much Is Just Too Much!

All of this relatively cheap and easy performance has me a little worried. The "over the top" mentality was not good for perfomance enthusiaists back in the '60's and I don't think it will bode us well now. It reminds me of the line from some years ago, "I can't describe obscene, but I know it...

    Need Help!!! Selecting Restoration Shop

Dale, I can tell you from personal experience, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING! How long, how much, what they will do, what they won't do, etc. Nothing and I mean nothing is too trivial. Find out how many other projects the shop has going on at the same time. Look through some of my past posts here...

Cryo Treating (-300 f.) to strengthen metal parts ???

Cryo treatment is used more and more in match grade rifle barrels where a tenth of an inch at 1000yds, yes 1000, can be the difference between winning and finishing out of the money. The cryo treatment lessens the vibrations in a barrel when fired and makes those vibrations more consistant...

    Came to my senses

The on going saga that has been the restoration of my '63 has taken a toll on my patience and wallet. Over the last few months I have been trying to get the car finished, with the last big item being trying to get the side windows installed. Well the windows still aren't in and my frustration...

Lost our little friend today....our Yorkie

Sorry for your loss. I have a yorkie and my mother has 2 of them. Yorkies have heart as big as all the outdoors. They are wonderful animals. Now, if I was only half the person my dog thought I was, as the saying goes. Classic

    Installing rear window trim

I took the rear window trim of my '63 to have it polished. It looks like a million bucks now, but alas, it looks like I am going to have to re-install it. I know things come apart easier than they go together, so are there any tips I should be aware of? Do I tilt the pieces toward the body or...

Midyears: What tires are you using?

No offset trailing arms, just big flares. Maybe I had the 50 and 60 switched. 295/60 and 235/50. Car is in the shop so I can't walk out and check. Classic

Brake convert or no for my 57

IH2LOSE, I think the biggest difference was in pedal feel. I have driven other disc barked cars where if you even looked at the pedal, the car nose dived, they were that touchy. Obviously, it didn't stop any better than other disc cars, it was just the feel. The drum brakes had a firmer feel...

    Liquid Glass

I have used Liquid Glass since the mid to late '80's and use nothing else, except on the '63 since it has been repainted with laquer. Had been told not to use it on laquer, but the guy didn't know anything else he was talking about, so I am up in the air as to whether to try it or not. Classic

Brake convert or no for my 57

Big D, I had discs put on my '63. If I had to do it over, I'm not sure that I would. I guess it does stop a little better and the pedal is more to what I have been use to. But, I don't know if I will drive the car hard enough to see a difference, it was expensive and the wheels didn't fit the...

Midyears: What tires are you using?

235/60/15 up front and 295/50/15 in back. Goodrich radial T/A's Yep I'll buy them again. Actually I have to right now for the front. Jerko who was restoring it told me the wrong backspacing and didn't realize it until after I had the wheels powdercoated. So, it's cheaper to get 215's up front...

    richmond six speed

Derster, hey, Lewisberry is just up the road from me. Not sure exactly about a c-3, but I had a richmond 6spd put in my '63. It is tighter than stock, but no major cutting was required. The only thing that was cut was the transmission tunnel was notched slightly, but the original console goes in...

    Has anyone used these mufflers?

I'm looking for a better alternative to the hooker glaspacks in my 4" sidepipes. I know a lot of people like the spiral baffles, but to me, the price seems out of line. Has anyone tried the vortex insert cones? They seem like a good idea that might work, but then again it might just be a...

Vette Brake Leaf spring front susp

00fxd, I don't know if the two are alike, but I have the entire vette brakes setup on my '63. Had it installed after the wreck. What a huge difference. Best money I spent on the car. The girlfriend will actually go for long rides in it now. Uhh..maybe that isn't a good thing.:D I would like...
