    Door Hinge Replacement

These doors are very heavy so you need to have help or rig a sling to hold the door. I replaced the pins and bushings without help and it was not a lot of fun. Removal of the old pins and replacing with new ones was easy. Lining up the hinges was quite tricky without another set of hands.

General questions from a prospective C3 owner

The best advice I could give you would be to research this and other websites and decide what you want to have as far a a car is concerned. Projects can be fun but if you are abandoning one after 22 years that may not be the best choice for you. Completed cars cost much more but in the long...

    Help! more insurance confusion!!!!

I would not be as harsh on your agent as the previous poster. I doubt that he is lying he may believe that the actual cash value of your car is $40K. Unfortunately there are 4 or 5 guidebooks which will dispute that. You can bet that the claims dept will pull out one of those books when a...

Warning! Bond Spacers™, Boy Do I Feel Stupid

I'm not trying to slam Mr. Shiro - it's a fairly good book and hey it's capitalism (and buyer beware, etc.:hb), I just want folks to know that if you're interested in using his Bond Spacers™, please make them yourself and save a few bucks. You certainly have to admire someone who can turn a...

    ebay wiring harnesses

Wiring harnesses are probably not the best place to save a couple of bucks. What is a refurbished harness? What is the quality of the work? Will they be any better than the one you have now? All of these questions need to be answered. I replaced a rear harness that I bought from Lectric...

    Is this a good deal?

I don't see it as a good deal. You may be able to build your way out of it but that could be tricky. You are going to need a whole lot of time, skill, and patience. If you have to farm out the work you are SOL. All the parts are bagged and labled(I would not bet on that) but are they all...

    Where to buy Reproducton Parts??

I have been working on restoring my vette for the last 7 years. While I have not tried all vendors I have found that DR.Rebuild and Paragon have parts which are for the most part true to original, fit correctly and are of good quality. They are not always the cheapest. I would rather pay a...

    Brake Light

Check brake fluid levels and how does the pedal feel? If it is soft you need to get the system checked for leaks and have it bled. Do not ignore the light it could be a sign of bad things on the horizon. Driving without brakes can be hazardous to your health.

    Collectable

How collectible is a 73? That is a tough question. Everything is relavant. 73 attributes have been stated in previous posts but there are many more Corvettes that are valued higher by collectors and there are many that are not valued as much. Try not to worry too much about how much it is...

finally got some time with the new car

The heater core is a PITA job but if you are going to undertake it think ahead. You are going to have to take most of the dash apart so think about what you can do while you have it apart. I replaced all the dash bulbs since it was fairly cheap and I didn't know how long the bulbs had been in...

    Window Adjustments

I have a similar problem but more severe. My window falls 4" short. My problem is the teeth on the regulator are worn and they don't catch at the end of the cycle. I have to rep[lace or repair the regulator. Are your windows power or manual? With my power windows I can hear the motor...

    Restoration Parts

15 years old what a great hobby to get into. I wish I had done so a whole lot sooner. Before you start tearing her apart and replacing things you need to have a plan. Think about what you want to do and then look around for the parts after you have gotten the money together. Set your...

    Help! Partial restoration

Thanks for serving our country. Your question is too open ended to answer. You need to find a reputable Corvette shop and have them give the car a once over and an estimate. You can drop big bucks doing a suspension rebuild. I would get the estimate, then drive it for a while and see what it...

How to tell if numbers match

If you want to sell your car quickly you need to show it. Take it to car shows or cruises. A good one is the Bear mountain show on Wed. nights lots of car enthusiasts. Another is Adam's Corners in Newburgh on the first Tuesday of the month. If you get there early and put a sign on the car...

How to tell if numbers match

From your research it appears that the engine is original to the car. Since you don't know for sure if it is a totaly numbers matching car I would tell purchasers that as far as you know it is the original drivetrain and the buyer should check it to their satisfaction. Make it their...

    fiber optics??????

The fiber optic light monitoring system is one of the coolest things about C3 Corvettes. Do some research on this and several other Forums and you will see that they can be repaired. The key is to cut bioth ends with a very sharp razor blade and the butt them up against each other. Here are...

Question: How do I "store" the t-tops in the back?

70's used the 2 straps. The TTops set like a V with the outsides sitting on the wheel wells and the centers almost touching in the middle. Each strap held one TTop in place. I place my TTops in the storage bags and place them as stated held in place by a strap each. I then hope I don't...

    Help! Blonde Needs Brakes

We all sympathize with you and your brake problem. There could any one of a number of reasons it is occurring and without doing some diagnostic checks we can be no more accurate than the mechanic who replaced the last 2 master cylinders. The previous posters have the right idea. Check with...
