    Plenum Removal - '90 Vette

I am going to check to see if I am having problems with my EGR valve. While looking at another post awhile back, there was a good link for removing the plenum, but I didn't bookmark it - was just reading it casually. I have to tried to find that thread/link for the past couple of days w/o sucess...

    Possible EGR Problem - Hopefully!!!

The light came on just briefly just after the Change Oil light came on. I just assumed the Check Engine light came on to bring attention to the Change Oil. When starting up, the Check Engine light comes on just briefly as it is supposed to, so I know it works fine.

    Possible EGR Problem - Hopefully!!!

If I block off the EGR, it will be just to see if the car idles rough after coming up to temp. I would not attempt to drive it that way. If the idling smooths out after blocking EGR, I would then go into detailed diagnostic troubleshooting. I agree about the Haynes manual - I have used it as...

    Possible EGR Problem - Hopefully!!!

Thanks for the feedback so far. When the problem first started, I was guessing a vacuum leak somewhere. You guys confirm what I think - if it was internal engine damage, it should run rough while accelarating and at speed. I'm leaning going the route of blocking off the EGR first Question -...

    Possible EGR Problem - Hopefully!!!

A couple of months ago, the car started idling rough ('90 Coupe, 32,000 miles). At start-up, idles fine. Soon as it starts to get up to operating temp, rough idling - the car "lopes" with foot on the brake in "D". Getting up to speed an on the highway, it runs great. I took it to a local shop...

Rough Idle- Where to start looking

Recently, the car started idling roughly ('90 Coupe - 32,000 miles). When first started and idling in "Park", idles smoothly. After reaching operating temp, idles very rough in "D" - the RPM's vary +/- 50-100 RPM. Rough idling doesn't seem to be caused by a miss and the car runs great...

    Help! start.no start??

I had the same symptoms I had what exactly sounds like the same symptoms as you. Would not start on warm days, but if I let it sit for 10-15 minutes after initially trying to start it, it would start fine and start o.k until the next day. It would start fine spraying a little starter fluid in...

    Question: A/C Issue

A/C Fixed Thanks to all who replied. The fix ended up being very easy. Checking out the system, found the low pressure Schrader valve was loose. I suspect that was the source of a small leak. Took the Vette to a local shop and had them check for any other possible leaks with dye. Found no...

    Question: A/C Issue

Went to use my A/C for the first time last week ('90 Coupe). Nothing happened - I first checked fuses and they were o.k. Then I remembered seeing the indicator light above the climate control "Auto" selector button flashing at the end of last season which may indicate low gas. Driving the car...

    Water Pump Replacement

CoolingFan Switch Part # The fan switch (Part #PN 609-106)and conversion wiring harness (Part # 609-108) are available from Mid-America Motorworks for $16.99 ea. Very easy to install. I'd recommend adding a bottle of Redline Water Wetter even if you don't install the fan switch. Mid-America...

    Water Pump Replacement

I had a water pump on my '90 that was making sounds like it was going bad. Since it sits in the garage for most of the winter, I thought this a good time to do the nasty job. I used an article from Corvette Fever as a guide. Their picture tutorial was great - until I started to tear into mine...

    Water Pump Replacement Tips Wanted

Water Pump Replacement Thanks to everyone who replied. Some of the things I had already thought about and planned on doing, some of them I overlooked. Great thought about replacing the serpentine belt. As stated in one reply, this is a great opportunity for a couple of the "might as well"...

    Water Pump Replacement Tips Wanted

I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to replace the water pump ('90 coupe) soon - there is some tell-tale rattling which appears to be coming from the pump itself and a slight loss of coolant over time. There is no reason to suspect cracked head gasket or other leaks as I never see any signs of...

    Won't Start

In my previous response, I mentioned I had it narrowed down to two possible scenarios - the TPS was the other. I was leaning toward that solution - I too sprayed starter fluid/ether into the throttle body and the sucker would start up every time - that was my plan b. When I checked the TPS, it...

    Won't Start

I'm sure others with much more experience will weigh in on this one, but given the information you'll have to start a logical troubleshooting process. About a year ago, my '90 would start immediately, and run for a few seconds and acted like it ran out of gas. After letting it sit for about...

    Parking Lts/Headlights

What began as an intermitten problem has now developed into a constant problem (as expected). The issue is with the parking lights on my '90 coupe. When I turn on the parking lights, the headlight doors pop open (thankfully, the headlights themselves do not come on). Hopefully someone has had...

Problem- Tony Barela Corvette Parts; Mead, CO

Car Club I thought a couple of times about joining the Richmond Vette club, but I just never got around to it. Lack of time is the biggest reason - we have a w/e place down on Lake Gaston and I am there almost every weekend until the winter and then I snow ski most every w/e. The time I do...

    moving mirror

Same Problem I had the same problem with an '89 I had. Spent months looking for the source w/o success. I was never even able to get a response from 2 different Vette forums. As you say, it's no big deal, but drove me crazy. First couple of times it happened, I thought I was imagining...
