News: It's gorgeous; it's fun; it's a Vette, of course

Mine isn't even a year old yet and I've got almost 10Kmiles on it already. And it gets driven during the winter, too. Of course, only when the roads are dry and just long enough to heat everything up. A garage queen my Corvette ain't!

Michelin Tires are Standard on 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

As soon as my Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G2 Run Flats wear out, I'm looking to go with Michelin Pilot Super Sports as my next tire set. In fact, I understand GYs will not be used on the 2014 Stingray at all. Everyone seems to rave about these tires. They're not RFs, but, that's nothing a...

    Hi All! Newbie Here.

Thanks, Bill...Been learning a lot on this site. There's A LOT of good info here.

    LT4 Torn

I guess it's a matter of if you want to have more of a 'grand touring' car. Also consider all the upgrades and updates done to the C6. And, possibly better reliability. If the LT4 is a manual, then the C6 will be easier to take if you get stuck in heavy traffic. Another note is I understand the...

    Front License Plate Holder

For those of us who need to display a front license plate...<moan>...there is a viable solution I found. A company in TX, Double AA makes a all metal plate holder that mounts between the splitter and bottom of the bumper using the existing 7mm screws. It's easy to mount, easy to remove for...

    Hi All! Newbie Here.

I bought the service manual and did a lot of the electrical stuff myself. Unless it was something tough to get to like the fuel pump. Unfortunately, I had to leave the mechanicals to others. Like with all the leaks (pitman, rear main, front timing cover, pinion seals and so on) I just got the...

    Z06 air intake question

That's something similar to what I did with my old car. I used HVAC metal ducts, etc., to fabricate twin intake snorkels to go under the front valance panel, just in front of the air dam panel for the radiator. The twin 4" dia openings were elbowed on to 4" dia. vertical circular ducts, each...

    Hi All! Newbie Here.

It was a terribly under appreciated car. I remember a article in Car and Driver at the time yours was out. They were doing, 'Best Handling Car in America,' or something like that. The Z28 came in 2nd only to the Porsche 944, which cost about 2 1/2x more. Even the C4 /w Z51 option didn't make...

    Z06 air intake question

I dunno...I'm seeing some issues to doing this in me 'ead: 1. Does the air flow going over that area of the hood create a vacuum at the position of the decorative duct? If so, it might actually hurt performance by fighting the air flow going into the filter intake assembly. Usually, the bottom...

Everything you ever wanted to know about the LS7 engine

I have a Mac, which makes creating a pdf very easy. All I did was click on the 'PRINT' button at the top of the article page. Then, when the print box comes up, I can choose as a print option to create a pdf. If I remember correctly, I think that's how I did it. If you have trouble doing this, I...

    Mileage

Averaging well over 20 mpg with my LS7. Usually in the 22-24 range just puttering around town with a bit of highway mileage and the occasional romping on the gas. No complaints here! Some new FWD turbo 4s ecoboxes are getting just about that with automatics, from what I've read.

How old is the "average" C6 buyer?

I just got my first Corvette last fall (2012) and I was 56. BTW, I can get in and out without groans and grunts...;LOL

Everything you ever wanted to know about the LS7 engine

I was able to make a pdf and print it out. That way, I could relax on the couch and read it and use a highlighter for certain statements of interest. Great article. Very revealing. Makes me appreciate mine even more.

    Z06 air intake question

I just looked at mine. I thought it was functional. Nope. It's blocked off. That's the one thing I don't like. Reminds me of the plastic hood louvers on my previous car. A styling measure that just collects a lot of dirt and makes take longer to clean the car. If there's no function for it, keep...

    Hi All! Newbie Here.

I read the entire article about the development of the LS7 here in the CAC site. It's a amazing piece of engineering in it's simplicity of design and machining. To sort of 'bottom line' it, it seems the whole goal was to create a 4 valve head using the simpler and more compact 2 valve pushrod...

    Hi All! Newbie Here.

I looked at the final production numbers for 2013, and not many of these cars are wearing white paint. I think the total number for the 2012-2013 production run for the 10U white paint code was only 167. So if you see a white C6Z running around the north east coast, it might be me. The only...

    Hi All! Newbie Here.

Thank you...I deeply appreciate the warm welcomes. Ok, here are some picts of the past and the present. It took me a bit of doing to figure out how this forum handles images. But, I think I've got the hang of it. What's neat is one can just upload thumbnails and they enlarge when clicked on...

    Hi All! Newbie Here.

I just wanted to intro myself. I came from rather humble beginnings. I sold my IROC-Z28 last year and used the proceeds toward the new 'Vette. When it hit 200Kmiles, and the restoration bill was running to over the $45K mark (including some upgrades), I decided it was time to move on. I bought...
