Flood Cars Are Starting to be Advertised For Sale Lately!!! "Pitfalls"?

I would agree with LLC5. My friend lost a 96 GS convertible, #365 I think, because of Sandy last year. The car was submerged in salt water up to the rear view mirror in his garage. By the time the insurance company took the car, about 3 weeks later, all 4 wheels were frozen, the crank case was...

    Help! SYS light

Pete, It usually means your battery is on it's way out, or has discharged from sitting to long. You can clear the SYS code with a scanner, or disconnect the negative battery terminal. ( you will lose all your pre-sets like radio stations) Charge the battery by taking the car out for a ride...

    Question: 97 w/16xxx mi

Tom, I wouldn't worry to much, 16k is low but I think the bulk of the problem were addressed by the current owner. If he's a corvette guy, he should have know better than to let the car sit for 10 years, and then expect it to start. He should have at least driven it 500 or so miles a year...

Just got my 92 LT1 Corvette today, need help for a couple of items.

I know what you mean. They actually make a special tool to remove O2 sensors. I did it the old fashion way with an open end wrench but I could not get 1 sensor off when I put the Corsa on so I wound up just buy a new one.

    My new ride ...

I agree with Mac, I usually have all my cars serviced including oil changes by my mechanic. I have a lift as well and by the time I move the cars in the driveway, take the GS off the lift, put the other car on the lift, I am already sweating profusely, and I still have to go buy the oil and...

Just got my 92 LT1 Corvette today, need help for a couple of items.

If its the same as the 96's you push the "set" button, then within 5 seconds, use the radio tuner buttons to go up or down. The radio has to be off to do this Good luck with the car..

    Question: Idling & Running Rough

Need more info... Mileage, service history? Could be bad fuel, clogged fuel filter, ingnition wires, plugs, clogged cat. Did you do anything to the car recently? Clean the engine? If you aren't getting any codes, it could be time for a new optispark.

Question: 1993 Torch Red Coupe w/red interior Production Number

Congrats on the 93, and welcome to the CAC. Great resource here. As jmhorn said, there doesn't seem to be any numbers for 93 on interior color. I can tell you that for 96, 4418 torch red coupes were produced, 383 with red interior. If you do the math, you could estimate 270 coupes had red...

    Inspection Service Company

Craig, You could also seek out the local NCRS chapter and see if someone will go look at it for you. Sometimes they charge, sometimes they don't. Most will charge you but you can rely on them to give you an honest opinion of the car. I have done this a few times for people without charging...

    1998 with 117,000 miles ?

Congratulations on scoring a new gig. Its great to be employed regardless of your age. I think you can find a much better C5 than the one you mentioned. $13,500, for a 117,000 mile car is much to high. I have a freind selling a 97 with 90,000 for $11,000. Keep looking, and enjoy the hunt...
