I've heard rumors that chevy gave the car mags de-tuned LT4's for testing... so they wouldn't show off the extra power.
The main reason for this is the development cost of the LT4 was very low, versus the millions spent on the LT5 and LS1. Imagine how much cheaper the C5 would have been if...
There is no real way to do it on 'working' headlights on later C4's (1990 up)
If the headlights are not working, you can rotate the 'knob' on top of the black cylinder (headlight motor) and the headlamp will rotate open. it will take what seems like a million twists to get the headlamp to...
C4's have just taken a major hit in price the last couple of years. Your car is a knock-out, and the 35 ann. is a car that is well liked. (There is one on eBay right now with 35k miles, check that out if you get a chance.)
For the down-side:
$13.5k can buy a nice 1995 coupe with 70k on...
We are talking about a street car here, with ABS. everyone I've ever talked to says force the old fluid out of the caliper through the bleeder valve so you don't mess up the ABS sensors. doing that alone would require a bleed.
you really can't beat the price compared to stock. I think power / $$ is there, even with a gamble that it won't work (especially if you can do the work yourself)... this of course assumes you are in it for the power :lou
Either route you choose... good luck:) This is one of the few mods...
FYI -- Sears has a nice one for a good price... and it comes with a pig tail to attach to the car, so all you gotta do is plug it in instead of dealing with alligator clips.
being from florida, I am surprised at your stance here. Brake fluid may not 'need' to be changed after simple pad/rotor replacement but it certainly should be. Glycol based brake fluid loves to absorb water, and will take it right out of the air... and in Florida's ever humid climate, fluid...
I think the 10% number is BS. If they are saying 10% it is probably more like 30% or more. However, if you take your time on the install you should be ok in the end. The kicker really is the balancing. it isn't easy to match balance two flywheels that are so different in overall weight. I...
They will go back and forth... if you are looking above the brake (think hood open looking down) they will move toward and away from the center of the car, back and forth on the caliper. this keeps them centered on the caliper all the time. it will all make sense when you get into it...
That is strange... I can't remember exactly what the brakes were like on the '87 (I used to have an '87 vert too!).
I think they are free floating brakes like the rest of the C4's though. Assuming so, make sure the calipers float on the pins back and forth like they should. Make sure the...
It's loud. sounds like someone through a bag of rocks in the tranny.
The fly needs to be balanced properly, and most important installed properly. I don't think mine is and I get chatter when the clutch gets hot.
On the other side of the coin, it grabs like heck, and the car revs...
Definitely bleed the brake system... humidity kills brake fluid, and you know how humid it is down here in FL.
There aren't many parts on brakes, so just check them out... check the lines, etc. anything worn or cracked will need replacing, but the chances of that are pretty slim.
Oddly enough, it shows up under the 'sold' list on showroom auto's site.
I still think the price is (or was) great... if the wife was on board it would probably be in my garage right now. :lou
