Also check the top of the tank. On my 71 I had a bad gas smell forever and couldn't find any leaks, puddles, etc. It turned out the gasket at the base of the filler neck had rotted a long time ago and the gas would splash and leak at the base of the neck and sit on top of the tank.
It ate...
I went with this 350 and couldn't be happier. My friend went with the 383 and loves it. I met the owner of the company that builds these motors and he's got a great background. I lost the link during the move but the one below gives you the specs. PM me if you want me to dig into the direct...
John,
Thanks for the reply. The safety lock I'm speaking of is the slack cable lock on the Bendpak. It's spring loaded and "snaps" into the channel if the cable becomes slack. Not sure about BYB, they may have the same thing but I didn't see it called out. Alos BYB has an 8 week wait while...
I'm trying to decide between the following three lifts:
Backyard Buddy - I like the post design
Bendpak - I like the saftey locks in case a cable breaks
Rotary's "Revolution" lift
I'm interested in serious feedback on pros and cons. Also, I won't need to move the lift around. The Bendpadk...
Your solution is exactly what I'm trying to get done but the garage door companies are telling me they need to replace the door for over $1K. It's a brand new house. All I want is a dummy panel or two and the extra verticle section.
I don't know why this is so hard. It's not rocket...
Glenn,
:D I like the idea. Same concept as the dummy panel but with a metal frame. I thought about going that way too but kinda got stuck on how I would make the frame. I figured a dummy panel would be easier than trying to make a frame but the frame would likely weight less. What would...
High Lift Door Conversion
I'm trying to get my doors converted to high lift as well. It seems to me the garage door industry has a few quirks.
My garage has 12 ft ceilings and 8 foot doors. Of course to save a few bucks the builder had the doors turn horizontal at the 8 ft mark. I want to...
If they are the Hooker sidemount headers you are right you "may" have to notch the rockers. It all depends upon how your body is sitting on the frame. Some cars have more room because of more shims etc. Also, even if there is clearance to get the pipes under the rockers you may still need to...
Jack her up and put her on a good set of jack stands. You can do just about anything you need to do on a set of jack stands and most times you need to do something the car won't be running anyway. If you don't have them you need them and a good set doesn't cost that much.
Good luck! :)
It's really pretty simple. The tubes running into the firewall (once the rubber lines are disconnected) are part of the evaporator. The evaporator is housed inside the fiberglass box that is bolted to the firewall. The box is two parts. You will see several bolts in the engine compartment...
I agree. If you don't find a leak at one of the rubber hoses check the top of the tank around the filler neck. The gas splashes around when the tank is full and sits on top of the tank. No drips to see so it's hard to find but it stinks up the garage.
Other places:
Sending unit under...
It ain't the money and you know it! If I hadn't moved away to NJ we'd be pulling the body off your 68 this weekend! ;LOL:upthumbs:boogie:beer
Go for it. I didn't find the video all that useful. It's an ok video, the workbook is good research, and the dolly works with some modifications...
Evolution,
Can you explain the "springy hood bumpers" a little bit more? I'm not sure I understand.
Yes I did not use soap. Just a wet buff. Needed to get the dust off the paint before I covered her. Yes, I'd prefer not to cover her but with people looking at the house I don't want...
Got the timing set a little better this morning. Was able to take her for a ride then washed her down and covered her up. Won't be playing with the 71 for a few more weeks now. But the good news is that it runs good enough to bring it in for her dyno tune. I'll post a couple of pics in the...
Better news today. After 2 days of getting the house ready to sell I got around to the car tonight.
Drained the tank bone dry, flushed the lines, drained the carb, reset carb to base line. I have no idea what was in the tank. There was about 3 gallons total in the tank. About half was gas...
Good news bad news. Car is back home. Bad news the nut on the distributor hold down backed off during the last few months of starting and stopping and actually snapped off the stud. Distributor popped up, timing all goofed, all happened as they started it to put it on the trailer. It was...
Well good news today. They fixed the spot and you can't find it so they did it right. I looked at it from every angle and distance and the spot is just not there. I'm pretty pleased. Their paint guy has skills.
Supposed to bring it home tomorrow night. New pics to come soon after she gets...
