    ZZ383?

I agree -- Sanderson headers are excellent. My buddy installed the shorty-style versions on his '79. The flange is so thick, that a gasket is not required.

    Need input re engine steaming

Lori, I used the generic engine cleaner from Advance Auto for the heavy stuff, and then used Simple Green to follow-up with a variety of stiff brushes, picks, and scrapers. Another thing I found to be effective was that I got a "Y" connector and hooked it up to a hot & cold water source...

    Transmission swap

Personally, I would go for the Keisler swap. First, to me there is nothing like the feeling of shifting gears with a badass motor under your foot, second, the Keisler kit appears to have pretty much everything needed to do the swap...

    Help! !974 L82

Check the fluid levels. The seals may also be brittle.

    69 Dash Removal

Be careful. That reinforcement bar is extremely fragile, and can easily snap. I had to bow the upper dash itself to remove and and install it. (re: http://picasaweb.google.com/1fine69/StartOfInteriorRestorationDash ). Again, be careful as the original can be brittle. I ended up replacing...

78 SA/ how much vacuum to run headlights?

That's pretty low, and you will likely have some problems with the headlights. Mine was previously around 8-10 --- I had over-cammed my car and the lights would not raise. I replaced the cam. The vacuum increased to 13-15, everything works again and the car runs much better for the street.

Question: Do I Need Different Front Coil Springs?

Confirmation received Okay, I received confirmation (in case anyone is interested). The VB&P 550 lbs/in Gymkhana coil springs are designed for both small and big block Corvettes. The springs will provide an upgrade to F-41 or Gymkhana specifications. It will also lower the vehicle...

    Stingray???

Uh-oh. Here we go again. The Sting Ray badge started in 1963-67 Corvettes; dropped in 1968 and then re-emerged as one word, "Stingray" for 1969 through 1976 (I think?). However, it is true that many folks refer to all C3 Corvettes as Stingrays, so who cares?

    Parking Brake Doesn't Work

There is an adjusting spindle inside the drum that you should be able to access through a hole in the disc. Although this is often rusted and frozen (as mine was), you're supposed to be able to use a screwdriver through the access hole to adjust. Tighten all the way and then back-off by approx...

Energizer Cam Kit for Big Block Project

I've attached a photo of the intake. I think this is a low profile type like the stock type, so I hope this will help with clearance with a stock LT1 hood. The connecting rods are getting worked on now (new ARP bolts). I'll take a pic of the block later -- too cold outside lately.

    Question: Fuel Pump Upgrade?

Nope. Your stock one will work fine.

    Question: What is a Flexplate?

Oh okay. So it's a flywheel for automatic transmissions... that's why I was not familiar with it.

Take a look, Black or chrome?

Chrome looks classier to me... less utilitarian.

    Question: What is a Flexplate?

I see flexplates in auto catalogs all the time. What are these things? I had my flywheel turned when I did my overhaul... but it did not have flexplate on it. Is this an alternative to a flywheel? Confused. ;shrug
