coolant and transmission fluid have a very different texture, transmission and power steering fluid being oil based. coolant is water based, and should wash off with just water. Has someone just flushed the transmission, or topped off the coolant? The chevy dealer is a good recomendation if...
I take mine to a chevy dealership that has a tech who works on Vettes only. I'm sure he's driven them all, and doesn't do anything stupid that will cost him his job. I trust him with my car, and that gets me respect from him.
I have a black 94 with the chrome ZR1 wheels, and I used Dupla-colors Yellow. $6 a can did all 4. The can says the paint cures in 7 days, so I'm letting it cure before I drive it. I seen on one thread where someone painted there calipers, took it to the track, and the capilers got tainted...
3M makes a general purpose ahesive remover, once you pry the emblem off. But they can be a beast to get off. Once you get a part of it up, it will come off easier. I used a small screw driver, and got under it and lifted up. The double sided tape will be fine to hold the new emblem on.
Redc4, Yours was an old post, but I did a search on horn. My drivers side quit blowing, and I found your repair. Just want to say thanks for the info. I did what you sugested, and I have duel horns again. Great advice, thanks again.
Does anyone ever just replace the cap and rotor on these, just for routine maintenace? How long do they last? I see them selling for around $250, which is huge for a cap and rotor. Can it be done without removing the waterpump?
I hope I have some trashed cloths on if I get a flat in my 94. And then, trying to get the 275 or 285 flat tire in the rear. It looks like a better idea to just call a tow truck and flat bed it home. It was hard pulling it out with it up on jack stands, as I did just to get a good look at it.
I drove the Vette first time in almost 3 weeks. Put about 110 miles on it. I can't say I noticed noticed a temperature difference. Its hard to tell though, it was showing 43 outside degrees outside on my climate contol display. But I feel better have done something I know needed done. It...
How about disconecting the coolant flow thru the throttle body? I read its not really necessary, and robs horsepower in summer. Its not driven a whole lot in the winter.
Thats a good idea, I'll rember it for next time. I'm still thinking of the 160 degree thermostat. I'll wait to drive it to see how much of a temperature difference the cleaning makes.
I've read a lot of concern of the opti spark, but in 30+ years of driving, I've never experenced a better ignition. My 94 Vette can sit for 3 weeks, and I just touch the key and this thing fires instantly.
I took advantage of the mild weather yesterday to remove my fan shroud and clean my radiator. I used a small shark vaccum cleaner and compress air instead of water. I wouldnt have thought it was a four hour job, and with the A/c lines, I never did get the shroud all the way out. Those six...
