My Vette came with an 18" flex fan which was hitting the shroud when I gun it. I am not sure about the 81 - maybe the opening is a little bigger.
If the carb is a Quadrajet I suppose the low fuel level is possible. The question I have is why was it ever right after the rebuild - it should...
Are the trailing arms for the drum brakes different than the trailing arms for the disc brakes?
A friend of mine has a set that came on the replacement frame for his 63 and I wonder if I can use them on a disc brake car (like my C3?). Or maybe they are rare and I should try to find a C2...
My Corvette reaches a point where it will start leaking tranny fluid. If it is driven regualr it is fine but after sitting a lengthy time ( a couple weeks to ?) it starts leaking. I doubt it's the pan, probably the front seal leaking down on the pan.
I am guessing the two problems are not...
If you are serious about Vettes, you'll have another one when the situation allows it.
Maybe you can hang on to some of the money for the next one. If so then now you have time to shop for a really great deal!
Mine is 7 and I am thrilled that he likes turning wrenches.

He's disconnecting the half shaft here. Obviously he is being supervised and I am selective on the tasks he does, but he's taking to it like a fish to water.
Of course his...
I agree that you should try another gauge to see if that is the problem. The only other place I have seen the oil sending unit is behind the distributor, but not sure if the Vette has it there.
I have had one small block Chevy that ran fine yet showed 0 psi at idle. How is this possible...
Thanks for the replies.
Turns out I did not need to drill it out after all. I went to remove the sleeve to drill it out, and decided to use the bolt to push it out. When I hit the bolt with the rubber mallet, it went right in to the sleeve.
Looking closely at the bolt, there was a small...
The only way I dould see the rod getting stuck is if there was some buildup on the rod and now it has moved far enough up or down that the buildup is now in the bore for the rod. If this is true, maybe you could use some penetrating oil to free it up. Let it soak in for a day or two.
If you...
Since they cleaned up nice I would use the original bolts and washers.
My 75 was from North Carolina, and so far everything has unbolted fine. The rust issue has a lot to do with how the car was driven and where it was stored through its life.
My 75 was having some similar symptoms, though it never took to stalling out. The control module in the HEI was the culprit. It's a longshot but I spent many hours fixing the wrong things before changing a $20 part.
Sounds like the distributor is the issue. If you are starving for fuel it won't backfire much - just won't run. A little gas in the carb and it should run for a few seconds.
Why was the distributor out in the first place?
My car was missing pretty bad around 3000 RPM. It would drive around happily all day under that RPM. I changed the fuel pump to try and fix the problem. Tried different carbs. I took off the back half of the exhaust since I thought it was a blocked catalytic converter - I had to grind welds...
I have installed a new set of polyurethane bushings in the trailing arms for my 75, but the bolt will not fit through the sleeve. The sleeve is a little too small. The bolt appears stock, and fits the frame right.
This is part 582020 from Corvette Central. I talked with product support and...
I think you are right about the 81 - I was confused since the spec section on this sight shows the auto tranny as a four speed - even though it shows the gear ratios for the 3 speed auto. I wonder what is different beside the driveshaft.
I have heard that about the Crossfire. I have no...
I can't disagree with your assessment, and I have been thinking about it the last week or so. However I guess I am still leaning towards lightening the car though. My thoughts are:
* Most of the lightening I plan will not require major money. As far as the A/C, I'll do the fabrication myself...
