Yep, thats what I'm thinking. I initially went with ATE Super Blue and depleted that after several attempts bleeding the brakes. I think that stuff was overkill. Picked up some Valvoline Synthetic Dot 3 & 4 from AutoZone. Also, found a Master Cylinder Bench bleeding kit at NAPA for $8.
I like the '73. She already been done so not much else to worry about. It's a C3 and not as expensive as the other two. The only vette with a chrome and rubber bumper. Wish I had a '73.
I love your Avatar!
I have chambered exhaust and love them as well. I did have an experienced custom exhaust shop install them as they do hang low and will need some custom hangars and welds.
What's the best local "over-the-counter" brake fluid? Obviously, the higher the wet boiling point the better. I've just replaced my rear calipers and lines and this coming weekend I will be replacing my master cylinder. So, I'm looking for the best brake fluid to use as well as a bench bleeding...
We used no more then 12psi and I think the master cylinder was acting up before the caliper replacement but not sure as I had a leaking piston on the rear drivers side caliper which caused low fluid level and turned the fluid milky. Could have destroyed my master cylinder or maybe it just needs...
Hi chuck, yep we did all of that. Initially, before the caliper install I did get the brake light a couple of times when the pedal went to the floor during braking. No leaks. All levels good. No air in system after power bleeding three times with inner bleeders first.
Yea, Hib provided some good info which we read. VB&P suggested taking off the master cylinder cover and pump the brakes to see if there is any activity and when my wife pumps the pedal hard there is fluid that pumps up from both reservoirs which leads me to think there is no problem with the...
I originally used teflon tape. Replaced the nylon gasket and decided to try to put things back together without teflon tape and now it leaks. So, the use of teflon tape to prevent leaks is required for me.
Your post makes me wonder when I'm going to get to take my wife out for a cruise. My vette has been down due to brake issue's for the past few months. Finally got a chance to install the new rear calipers thinking this would be the resolution to my woes but nope. Maybe before winter?.....:boogie
I purchased two new rear calipers and lines from VB&P. Did the install. Used the Power Bleeder three times. No air in the system. Brake pedal goes to the floor with little resistance. No leaks. It's not the Booster because it's hard when motor is not running. I'm thinking Master Cylinder. Any...
Calipers and hardware installed with DOT 5 brake fluid. Pressure bled them with a Power Bleeder. Pedal still goes to the floor. No leaks and bled them 3 times. When the motor is off and when you pump the brake it gets hard as a rock but when running it goes to the floor. Thinking ?Master...
Just got off the phone with them and it appears as though they are out of stock with this little part called "Dust Covers" which play an important role in building calipers. So, I'll gladly wait and let them do a good job. My parts will probably ship next week sometime they are saying...
When you remove the fuel filter from the Quad there is a plastic white round gasket. I need to replace that and have not found a place of purchase. Any idea's? Also, as for the threads on the cylinder that contains the fuel filter, no thread sealant or tape is used to prevent leaks right? I seem...
I went with the SS sleeves on new Delco Calipers. My order still has not shipped yet so I'm a little dissappointed with the amount of time it's taking to get the parts. It's been almost two full weeks.
