    The unthinkable has happened... :-(

Thanks for the tip. Welcome to the CAC. Thanks for the well wishes. I hope you have a great time at Bowling Green-- it's awesome! You'll get to take a tour of the assembly plant-- I didn't get to since I came through there on a Sunday. Enjoy!!! Actually, about my car: I talked with the sales...

    Rotor's worped again

Make sure your lug nuts are properly torqued in a star pattern with 25ft-lb increments to 100 ft-lbs. Overtightening can cause the rotors to warp. Usually, this happens after 6000-7000 miles, but maybe something else is going on to cause it to happen to you after only 2500 miles. Fred

    automatic head lights

Re: auto headlights Yeah, I don't think those are gonna be part of your problem. Looks like some issues in the past related to the Remote Function Actuators (key fobs) and the Door Control Modules. Hmmm. If 2 is YES, then 3 is YES, step #4 is next, but it involves a scan tool. You're...

    Seat Memory

Nope. This is normal, although I believe it is a change with the 2000s and later, compared to '97-'99. On my previous '98, the memory functions would kick in each time I inserted the key. With my 2000, they only work after I've used the key fob to unlock the vehicle. This is normal, though, and...

Passenger Toe Kick Panel Accessory Power Plug Missing on 2004 - C4C5Specialist ? ? ?

Don't know if this will help or not, but my installation guy was up underneath the dash on the driver's side when he installed my Passport 8500. He removed the panel that slopes downward from the steering column area and connected the wiring harness there. The 8500 is mounted just under the...

    Buying a C5

Congrats from me, too, Ron! I hope that it is everything you want it to be, and I hope it runs well for you. I'm loving my 2000 Coupe, even though it has 4x the mileage of yours! That's great to have gotten one with that low mileage. Enjoy! Fred P.S. Highly recommend adding that 12-disc...

    need xxx help

First things first. Do you have any Diagnostic Trouble Codes in your Driver Information Center? Check here if you don't know how to find this out and let us know what codes you have set. Some info from the service manual: Also, something else to consider-- some tires have a bit too much steel...

Dealer News: 2002 Corvette Lug Nuts – Production Running Change

Thanks, Grumpy! Good to know that I should not order 4 "sets" and wind up with 16 locking nuts! Let me re-ask my first question in a different way :) : Do you have the locking nuts on your machine? If you were buying a set of lug nuts, would you buy the the locking set? Thanks! Fred

    check engine light came on

Actually, it wasn't from a link... That was from my 2000 model year factory service manuals. If you are interested in getting these, you can sometimes find them on eBay, or you can order a new set of manuals from Helm, Inc. at http://www.helminc.com. The KnowledgeBase has a listing of them in...

    check engine light came on

The P1416H code is "Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System Bank 2." The circuit description from the service manual (not that I understand it all!) is: As for the P1571, that code is "Traction Control Torque Request Circuit". Sorry I can't provide more personal expertise, but maybe that...

Dealer News: 2002 Corvette Lug Nuts – Production Running Change

Hey Everyone-- I'm about ready to order these stainless steel lug nuts for my Vette, but I wanted to try to find out an answer about the locking "set". Can anybody tell me: 1. Is it recommended to get the locking nuts for security? 2. Does the "set" include 1 nut or 4? Thanks, Fred

    Telescoping steering column won't telescope

Fixed it! Okay, it appears that previously I didn't cycle the switch 6 times vigorously enough! Actually, when I tried again this afternoon, I made sort of an oval motion with the switch, instead of simply moving it forward and backward. While it only really travels forward and back, there is a...

    A C5 Under Water

Obviously, it can be done, but FYI, it does say in the owner's manual that the Corvette should not be used for towing...

    Not Technical - Insurance Questions

Here in B'ham, AL, I have a 2-car policy with Cincinnati Insurance, through a local agent. The other vehicle is a 1995 Ford Bronco. For reference, I just turned 29 on September 4. When I initially had my 1998 Vette, I was paying $2001/yr for both vehicles. Just before it came time to renew, I...

    Telescoping steering column won't telescope

Oh, right. Forgot to mention that part. The codes that are in the system don't seem to be SCM-related. They are: B2578H (BCM, I think-- it has to do with one of the turn signals) U1096H (Radio) B2252H (LDCM) U1064H (LDCM) U1064H (RDCM) And that's it... I've tried this a couple of times, but...

    Telescoping steering column won't telescope

Anyone else run into this or have any repair tips? When I move the adjuster knob toward me, I hear a slight click or similar noise like the motor is trying to engage. When I move the slider away from me, I hear nothing. Either way, I get no movement from the steering column. I don't have a Tech2...

    FYI: Fixing underhood lamp

FYI: Fixing underhood lamp / vanity lamps Just thought I'd post about a problem that I finally got to the bottom of last night... I had noticed that my underhood lamp was not coming on. Tried replacing the bulb, which blinded me for about 3 seconds, then went out. Tried 2 more bulbs, to no...

    Alum..wheels.

RUBYC5-- I noticed that you deleted all of your posts because they were in all caps but did not repost the questions you had. You didn't have to do that-- just try to remember to not do all caps next time. Anyway, I was wondering if you wanted to ask your questions again (since they're gone...
