Seat Memory

My drivers side seat will not retain its memory setting, occasionally it will, but next time I get in the Vette it is lost. Help.

Mine works 90% of the time, but once in awhile I'll get in and it just stays where it was until I push the memory button. I have never figured out why it does this.

I have noticed the same issue in my car but there is a consistancy to it. If I lock the car with the key fob after exit when I unlock and get in the memory works fine. If I exit and don't lock the car when I get back in and put the key in nothing happens. I have to push the memory button to get it to adjust. I just figured that if I lock it than the memory will work automatically and if I didn't lock it than I would have to push the button. Is this normal or is something wrong?

Nope. This is normal, although I believe it is a change with the 2000s and later, compared to '97-'99. On my previous '98, the memory functions would kick in each time I inserted the key. With my 2000, they only work after I've used the key fob to unlock the vehicle. This is normal, though, and I'm pretty sure I noticed the manual saying something about this...

With that said, I'm also having some trouble with my "seat memory", but I now believe it is due to the seat motor acting up. Everything else memory related (mirrors, A/C, steering column) works normally, but usually my seat doesn't scoot far enough forward. I was having to use the switch on the side to get up to where I wanted to be, but now even that is acting up. Sometimes using the slider results in the seat only moving a fraction of an inch and then stopping, even though I've not released the slider. Oh, well-- back to the service manuals I go!
