    HEI Coil Capacitor 1976 L-48

Anybody have a digital snapshot of a 1976 or similar stock distributor they want to send me? Just so I can see what the capacitor is supposed to look like? B

    HEI Coil Capacitor 1976 L-48

Mine is dead because the wire that goes into the capacitor cracked at entry. I will probably resolder it, but I would rather replace it as the wiring looks extremely old as does the capacitor. B

    HEI Coil Capacitor 1976 L-48

On my 1976 L-48 a wire runs from the HEI coil "TACH" line to a capacitor and then to a line running into the dash and to the tach. Is this the way this is supposed to be rigged? Currently I have ordered 2 new capacitors, each supposedly the correct fit for my vehicle and neither one has the...

    Rear Wheel Bearing

Where can you get a back issue of Corvette Fever? I finally have done the bearings on my land rover and I am now ready to tackle my Vette. Also anybody have a bearing number for the Timkens? I think it is set 37, but I am not sure. B

    Bearing Noise

Ya she is getting parked tomorrow and I will tackle the rear bearings along with several other problems when I get back from vacation. The only reason I am even driving her now is because my Land Rover is up on blocks waiting for some parts. Well I am the one who wanted toys instead of cars. B

    Bearing Noise

Haven't had time or been able to use the wall test. But, the noise appears to be coming from the right rear and is a very high pitched ringing noise. It is constant, but it stops abruptly under about 15 miles and hour, and starts again above that. It doesn't seem to change when loaded or...

    Bearing Noise

Could someone describe bearing noise in these vehicles to me? Is it a rumble, a whine, a high pitched ringing? I have so many funky sounds coming from this car that it is often difficult to pinpoint where a noise is coming from and what it is.

    How should headlights work?

Ya I am getting good pressure to the relays, but I guess I need to test after that to see where the problem lies. I have one of those gauge tester things so I will just start pluggin it around on hoses until it drops off. B

Doing My own Rear Wheel Bearings

Also if I remove the trailing arms and take them to get rebuilt, when I put them back in does the rear end need to be aligned? B

    How should headlights work?

Ok I have replaced almost the entire headlight vacuum system. Hoses were shot and I am now getting good vaccuum 19-20 all the way down to the acutators, which are brand new. When my lights open they both hesitate then the passenger side opens fairly quickly and then after it is up all the way...

Doing My own Rear Wheel Bearings

Well I think the guy I took it too was talking about a brand new entire trailing arm assembly. I have seen those for about 800.00 bucks each. So he got the price from 1600.00 for parts and another 700 for labor and alignment. B

Doing My own Rear Wheel Bearings

um.... Ya I have done suspension upgrades to other vehicles, u-joints, brakes, general engine work and upgrades, but I am kind of concerned about the specifications of play and whether I will know exactly how to do that. One guy I took it to just wanted to replace the entire rear trailing arms...

Doing My own Rear Wheel Bearings

ugh My confidence level just dropped...tremendously. B

Doing My own Rear Wheel Bearings

Anybody wanna stop me, or warn me about things I should or should not do before starting in on this project. I have done a lot of minor mechanical work, but this will be what I consider to be my first major project. But, that is the reason I bought her. To fix and learn, learn and fix. Any...

    Bleeding brakes

So as long as we are on the topic, why the extra screw looking thing, almost like you could run dual brake lines? B

    Bleeding brakes

so I definitely have to do both of them though right?

    Bleeding brakes

Two Bleeder Screws? Ok all my calipers have two bleeder screws. Do I need to do both of them? Does it matter which order? Inside first, then outside?

    76 Headlight Vacuum Relay placement?

Does anyone have a diagram or better yet a picture of how the two vacuum relays should be mounted in the front of the car? The guy before me had them zip tied to a rod near the front cross member. I am replacing the actuators and hoses and figured as long as I was in there I would mount them...

    Borla Muffler Installation 1976

C3 The main reason I got the C3 was cost. I found a decent one for 6500 dollars, and I can really do most of the work myself. It is not a primary vehicle, so if it sits in pieces in my garage for 2 weeks it is no biggie. After ordering incredibly expensive parts for my Land Rover, the...

    Borla Muffler Installation 1976

Dynomax Well the Dynomax are installed and overall I would say I am pleased. There don't have that "sound" of the flowmaster, but that doesn't matter to me, and they definitely are a performance upgrade. So overall, pretty pleased, and at half the price of the Borla's. B
