    spot the differences

Smokey and the bandit?? Craig (a different one) PS - did you get the Pink Floyd 'Animals' reference there??

79 jerks to right with brakes

I don't really know, once it started pulling, I had no intentions of letting go of the wheel!

    Interior Refurbishment

It is unique to the 76 Corvette, but not the 76 Chevrolet. . . You know which other model has it, but I doubt you'd find one of those in a junkyard anymore either. Did everything work fine before you took it apart? Craig PS It doesn't look like you need spell check!

79 jerks to right with brakes

My 81 pulled to the right, it turned out to be a leaking caliper on the left. It contaminated the brake pad, so I had to replace them too. I also had a squeaking/creaking noise coming from the rear. I checked the U-joints as reccommended, but they seemed fine, the half-shafts had been changed at...

78-82...A Stingray in the un-informed public eye?

68 was not called 'Stingray' nor was a 77. Again, the 'shark' reference is to the 'Mako shark II' prototype. A C3 looks like more like a sting ray (the aquatic mammal) than a shark, or than a C2 does. I personally don't care who thinks my Corvette is less of a car because it doesn't say...

Way to turn off choke manually?

A/C was standard equipment for the '81. I'm thinking older engines without A/C don't have double belts. Craig

    Big Trouble while driving

I had a 68 Charger (I know, please forgive me!) pull that same stunt once. It was the throttle cable, frayed out on the carb end and wouldn't retract when I let off - it stuck wide open! I was on a twisty road at the time and thought I was gonna soil the seats til I banged it in neutral and shut...

    Pix of 81

OK, that 'one rather weak squawk' was your fuse blowing - 20 amp plug-in type. If you have the new relay, you know what you're looking for. And for what it's worth, the fusebox isn't any easier at 5-8, 160 with two usable knees either. And yes, there's a dome light between the tops. Only had it...

Check out the 20 inch rims

Ditto. I don't really dig the 'stagecoach' look.

    1972 vs. 2002

actually, I like vanilla - size 9, and neither. Anyhoo, you're going to get good support for the 72 in this forum. Very different cars indeed. Just take 72 vs. 82. One is a 'chrome bumper' car, carbureted, flat back window, made in St. Louis, MO painted with lacquer. The 82 has neoprene 'shock...

    Daytona Yellow with green interior

That's what I said earlier, a 69 could've been ordered in 68 after the Pack won their second straight Super Bowl win.

Your horn relay should be in the area of the fuse box, hanging down. If your lighter, dome light, or glove box light work the fuse is ok as they are on the same link. Use a test light to see if you have power at the horns, then the relay, once you find it, if you still have no power, then you...

Herron and Johns81 - Greetings and welcome! Always glad to have more support from the Bowling Green sharks! Good luck with them. Herron, ramps won't help you much, unless you have some really long ones. You're better off jacking it up from the side and using jack stands. As for the horns, open...

Okay, after this I'll leave you '81ers alone...

Double thanks from us '81 - 1/2ers' that's the updated Bowling Green brochure. The car on the cover is what mine looked like rolling off the line! Craig

    How to tell gear Ratio?

your engine doesn't have anything to do with rearend gear ratio. I t may have from the factory, but anything could have been changed in between then and now. The rearend gearing is driveshaft revolutions to one rear wheel revolution. Easy ballpark estimate - jack up the rear, mark a tire and...

    got a squeak

I just took mine down off the stands, after I inspected the U-joints as best I could. They didn't seem to have any slop between the rotor and pumpkin. (oh, and changed a leaking caliper in the front and put new shoes up there) The right rear tire was low, about 16 lbs, while all the rest were...

    got a squeak

I have the same thing, only the other side - I think it is the e-brake rubbing but I'm not sure. I eagerly await responses with you! I have it on jack stands, and it doesn't squeak just free wheeling. Craig

    Side Vent Grills

Almost, 80-82's had smaller cove grilles. Craig

Problem with Electric window passenger side

My money is on stripped regulator gear. If it is, you can get a repair kit for like $40. The catalog makes it sound like you don't need to take it all out, but you do. Still not that bad. Good luck! Craig

    Something Broke........ 1981 Vette

A bent wheel will do that too, any of which can be determined at an alignment shop. The tire balancer will tell if you lost a weight or the wheel is bent. I have at least one bent, thanks to previous owners, rumbles like hell @ 65. . . Craig
