    Teach Me About Headlights

Sorry, needed to vent a little. I use the original stuff myself, not really familiar with the other ones. I do know that the blue glow that you can see a mile away is annoying. RnR is right on with the aiming. Problem is when most people 'update' they don't bother to check the adjustment. I...

    Teach Me About Headlights

Just one question - why do you all feel it necessary to blind oncoming traffic with those Godawful lights????

    Inflatable Car Lift

The only inflatable lifts I've heard of is the ones used by rescue personnel at accident scenes. If a car is upside down, they use them to stabilize the car if they can't roll it back over. Also as mentioned in the previous post, for uprighting rigs - never seen it, but don't doubt it for a...

Sold the C4 today...kind of sad

Ditto. I always thought that! My Mom had one when I was a kid, and it took me til a year and a half ago to get one. Hell, some days I like to sit in it in the garage and have a beer.

The Ultimate 1981 Corvette xmas gift!!!

Spartan, A build sheet is $40, Window sticker is $30 (laminated for another $5) for non members. You need the build sheet to get the sticker tho. There was a link to their site on this one somewhere, not sure if it still is. Good luck! Craig

    A.I.R. / Emissions Question

Tex, Does your state have 'classic' or 'historical' registration? Here in PA, only about 13 of 67 counties have emissions tests (but unfortunately Lycoming is one of them) but if you have classic or antique registration, it isn't required. I have most of the stuff, but since I didn't take it...

Your least Favorite Part about the 81

My least favorite part on my 81 is the big 'bay window' in the back! When some redneck is tailgaiting me, I can see them all too well. I put louvers over it so I don't mind it as much. Not so much that I dislike it, but I like the other ones better. Just my opinion. Craig

    '76 350 Rebuild

Good call, Jake. I agree with Jack (agreeing with Gary) I don't really understand why people want to 'save the original engine' while they jeopardize the car by putting in 400+ HP. It would be a shame to wreck the car and only have the original engine left. If I were going to make a street...

    Shot of my new motor

Geez Norval, you look like my cousin! That is one impressive looking mill in your Vette. That's where I thought I'd be by now when I was a teenager, but this whole 'working for a living paying for a house losing your soul in a factory' thing kinda side tracked me. I built a decent engine for a...

    Another Head Light Problem

Hi again, Lorin! The high beam socket will be the same in any 4 light system, as the bulbs weren't model specific. Isolate the problem as best you can - pull the socket off of the high beam light and see if the low beam still dims when you kick it up, and try pulling the other to see if anything...

    Blue, Bronze, Smoked T-tops w/ White 81??

No, just one set. My car had glass ones in it when I bought it, but I bought fiberglass ones on ebay - I like them much better, the solids look better and are somewhat cooler, and you know how C3's make heat! Do you have glass or fiberglass now? Make sure which you will be comfortable with if...

    New guy!

Lightningrod, Does your Vette currently have 2 four barrels side by side?? I've never seen that before, what set-up is it? I have 2 - 4's on my tractor but they are front and back, from a '58 Vette. I'm really curious as to how they are linked up, among other things! Oh, and welcome to the CAC...

    Headlight Help

I haven't changed one in ages, I think the headlight ring has two screws and a spring, if you take the screws out you can get the bulb out without removing the spring. Not really sure about halogen sealed beams, but if you put one in, you'd probably want to do all four. I'd start by checking the...

    Headlight Help

Yes, low beams are dual filament, might also be the contacts are getting corroded - either way not expensive. Craig

    Blasphomy!

C3L81, I'm assuming the car has the original urethane bumper? If so, they had a tendancy to fade different than the rest of the car and could have been repainted. They also needed a flex additive in the paint. The newer fiberglass replacements and 'flex-fit' units are stiffer and don't need the...

    Carfax?

C3L81, I don't put too much faith in Carfax. I paid the $20 to get the report on my car after I bought it, what a waste of money! I bought the car in Maryland, with the original engine replaced. When I brought it home (PA) to get it titled, they asked the mileage - I told them 168,000 with...

    Rear Window Hatch?

Correct, the rear window hatch was introduced in 1982. Others have been modified to open, but I don't see why someone would. For all the space behind the seats, it doesn't seem worth the effort to put an opening window in, that you would lave to lean over the car about a foot to access - from...

    rebuilt title effect $ ?

Hi all, I notice a lot of other PA guys here weighing in - we have 'Reconstructed' titles, and 'junk certificates' which I believe is what compares with a salvage title. You can get a recon title for making major modifications, like a flip front end, suicide doors, etc. In those cars, the 'R'...
