    Service Engine Soon light

I have a 96 LT4. Is there anything that might cause the Service Engine Soon light to come on flashing and then stay on for a while WITHOUT setting a code? :confused Thanks, JCS44 96 LT4 Vert, Triple Black

    Service Engine Soon light

Local Corvette specialty shop supposedly has latest and greatest code reader/scanner, but I don't know the specific model. If you can tell me, I'll check. Light is on for a while and then off for a while. Usually on in the morning and off that afternnon or next day. Recently replaced water...

    Intermittant/Bad O2 sensor?

What I've got is the service engine soon light coming on but not setting a code. The light goes off within a day, and it may then stay off for a few days, but eventually it comes back on. This began after having the plugs, water pump, and distributor cap and rotor replaced.

    Intermittant/Bad O2 sensor?

Is it possible to have an intermittant (or bad) O2 sensor that would cause an occasional misfire, causing the service engine light to come on, but NOT set a code? I've had this situation going on for about a month now, but it only happens after the car has not been driven for a few days...

    Service Engine Soon light

I have a 96 LT4 (36K miles) on which I have recently had replaced the water pump, opti-spark cap and rotor, and spark plugs. Most of the time it runs fine, but about once a week the Service Engine Soon light comes on, flashing at first and then stays on steady, and I think I can feel it missing...

    Battery gone dead?

OK, got it fixed. That battery was stone cold dead and would not register anything on a volt meter. So I guess it was shorted or open internally. Anyway, new battery solved the problem quickly and all is normal. One question though: What should the volt meter be reading when all is normal...

    Battery gone dead?

Well, I had it on a float charger that turns off when the battery is charged. I did notice that it took longer than in the past. JCS44

    Battery gone dead?

I was going to drive her to work this morning, but when I opened the door and no lights came on, I said oh sxxt. I tried the key and not even a click. The battery is over 3 yrs old and the last time I drove it (last week), I thought the voltage was running a little high - like 14.7-14.9V. And...

    LT4 Need some LT4 Advice

The easiest answer is there's really nothing that comes to mind to avoid. As you know 96 was the last year for the C4 and the only year for the LT4 motor. The last C4's are notably tighter with fewer rattles than earlier versions. In 96, they also went to the OBD II version of the computer...

    Tires advice

I started this thread months ago and just this week bought tires, but now my Goodyear EMTs on the rear are down to the wear bar. After a lot of research, I've ordered the BFG g-Force KDW from Discount Tires. You pretty much can't beat this tire for $137 ea including shipping. JCS44 96LT4...

    Tires advice

I need to get some tires, at least for the rear. Right now I have Goodyear run flats and I'm not going to spend the money for those again. The fronts are probably good for another 6-10K. If I keep the Goodyears on the front for a while, does it matter what I put on the rear? What do you...
