Last night I was checking some things on the cars and left the fuel pressure gauge connected to the Corvette while I ran an errand in one of the other cars. When I came back about an hour later the pressure was around 10 pounds. I was just wondering if that's a normal bleed down rate. Just...
I jsut saw one of those last week when I replaced my fuel pump. It's pretty amazing that all that stuff fits through that little hole in the top of the gas tank.
You can try cleaning the antenna, but it's most likely the nylon cable. The replacement kit comes with the antenna mast and the nylon cable as a unit. It will also include instructions and the special wrench for removing the top nut. The kit can be bought for around $20 and it's a 15 minute...
I have the one that uses the T40 screws, like the top. It works very well for highway cruising, but I get losts of squeaks and rattles if driven on rough roads with it installed.
Do a fuel pressure leak down test. The fuel rail should hold pressure for some time after shutting the engine off. If it starts dropping right away, you have a leak somewhere. From your description, there is probably an injector that is sticking open. When you stop the engine, the fuel from...
My rear bumper cover got damaged last summer (One of life's embarassing moments.) and I saw new areas of spiderwebbing appear after several months. Apparently when the bumper got severely flexed the cracking started underneath and didn't make it to the surface for some time. I would recommend...
I got tired of doing my own and then storing and disposing of the oil and filters, so I go to my neighborhood Valvoline Rapid Oil change. However, I open and close the hood and I stand there and watch them the whole time they are working on it. The only problem I have had is sometimes they use...
On the '88 you can pull the arm off and reposition it to provide more clearance. Also, watch for them to go past the edge of the windshield. They will also behave differently when the windshield is wet. Later C4's had the keyed position so adjustment is more difficult.
I had to readjust mine...
I bought one of the CD manuals for my '88 on ebay awhile back. For the price, it's probably worth having as a reference, but the one I have won't take the place of the service manuals. Each section of the manual is a separate pdf file, but it is a scan. The CD I have doesn't have any of the...
On a 5200 mile road trip last summer, I averaged 24.4 for the whole trip. That included city, mountains, a lot of highway, and being left idling (Keeping the inside cool in the 115 degree desert.) while sightseeing. The car was also fully loaded with every nook and cranny being used.
I...
I hadn't driven mine in the rain enough to know I had a problem until I was on vacation last summer. I ran into a downpour in Oklahoma and the blades were hitting each other and the drivers side blade was going clear off the side of the windshield. In a motel parking lot in Arizona, I pulled...
I've never tipped a service writer, but then I've only known two who were worth a darn. They were both at the same Pontiac dealership at different periods. I bought several cars from that dealership and I always made it a point to tell the owner, and sales manager that the main reason I kept...
It's most likely the plastic ribbon that has broken. The repair kit for the '89 includes both the mast and ribbon for $29.99 from Ecklers. I picked one up for somewhat less than that on ebay. The one I bought included instructions and a wrench for removing the retaining nut. It's about a 15...
I bought mine in the spring of '97 with 19k miles on it. All I did for the first 4 years was drive it and put in two alternators and the accessory drive belt. (Spend the money for the AC rebuilts. Don't buy the parts store rebuilts.)
In the last two years I have replaced:
Battery (dead)...
I use a torx bit with my Black and Decker battery operated screwdriver. One battery lasted through two weeks of vacation with top off and on many times. It's a lot quicker than the factory ratchet when caught in a sudden rain squall.

The white wheels, white leather interior, and black painted roof bow really make this a unique looking Vette. And as has been pointed out earlier there were only 2050 of these made, so you don't see them every day. I do a few parades in the summer time and it's fun to hear people on the parade...
The hoses going to the bottom of the TB are for coolant. The others are vacuum. I was able to leave the coolant hoses connected and just swing the TB up for easy access.
My gasket was in poor shape, so I replaced it. The local parts houses didn't have it in stock but the dealer did.
