Help adjusting wipers please

I know already, shouldn't be driving it in the rain. But I had to a couple of days ago - a rarity in San Diego.
The wipers hit each other a glancing blow every so often. The blades are new & windshield clean so the only thing left is to raise the "top" (when parked) pass side blade a degree or two. The bottom (when parked) driver side is WAY down against it's stop so nothing to do there.

How do you get the cover off the arm to reveal the nut that must be loosened to make the adjustment?

I don't want to scratch stuff up by forcing anything so I thought I'd ask first.

Although I didn't have the same problem I just posted how I fixed my on this forum. Try this link: http://corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26739. My problem was the wipers hitting the windshield trim edge. You could try this adjustment to see if it fixes your problem.

Thanks safety, that's it! The cover on my 96 is a little different but I'll bet the nuts are the same.

I hadn't driven mine in the rain enough to know I had a problem until I was on vacation last summer. I ran into a downpour in Oklahoma and the blades were hitting each other and the drivers side blade was going clear off the side of the windshield. In a motel parking lot in Arizona, I pulled the drivers side blade off, moved it over a couple notches and put in back on. Everything works fine now.

That's what I've always done, but on my 96 (maybe others) the attachment point is "keyed" , no adjustment possible there. You have to go under the screen near the wiper motor.

Froggy, it's the same with my 1990. I don't know why GM would make it so difficult for adjusting...what was wrong with the old-style multiple tooth type of fit like jester has in his 1988?

I agree, it's ez when there is no key on the splines. A guy on the other forum had a good idea, just replace the "hitting" blade with a little shorter one! Problem solved. They park ok & all so I think I'll just do that. Maybe the previous owner put the wrong length on?

Anyone know the length for an 96? Left/right different?
