Exhaust ideas for my ... Shark!

I just wish someone made stainless sidepipes... :) Joe

    Cold Ram Air!!!!

Indeed, the volume supplied by the a/c is not sufficient. If you increase the air flow to the point where it could supply the engine, you would no longer be cooling it to a significant degree, because it would flow past the evaporator coil too quickly to get cooled-down. What can be done, on...

    Top Tier Gasoline

Yeah, that's the stuff. I wish I could buy the Chevron gas, up here, but they don't have any stations near me... I just used one bottle, and my gas guage got un-stuck. A few fill-ups later, I ran another bottle through for good measure, and started to have fuel-delivery issues. $12 for a new...

    Tri-Y Headers

What are the benefits/drawbacks of the "tri-y" style headers, as opposed to the more traditional 4-into-1 headers? Also, on a related note, would the connection pattern of the tri-y header need to be changed, if a 4/7 cam were installed? Joe

    Top Tier Gasoline

Yeah, I got none of those up here... Ah, well, I can still buy the Chevron detergent at NAPA, and run it through on occasion... Of course, that stuff is so strong that it cleaned all the varnish off the inside of my Buick's tank, and plugged the fuel filter... Got the gas guage float unstuck...

Exhaust ideas for my ... Shark!

I already have 2.5" stainless duals, back to DynoMax Ultra Flo's. I don't want to invest in full-length headers, until I make up my mind what I'm going to do with the engine. If I put in a 406, there's no issue, but part of me wants to put in one of the modern LSx engines, which would require...

    Exhaust Ideas

The DynoMax 17264 may fit your car. It's listed for 74-82, but it is similar in dimensions to the stock muffler for the 68-73 cars, except the inlet pipe (which it does not have), but if you are having an exhaust custom bent, that should not be an issue. They are stainless mufflers, so they...

    Crankcase breather grommet

Thanks. I can't seem to get their online catalog to display, but I'll give them a call on Tuesday. Joe

Exhaust ideas for my ... Shark!

Thanks, guys, but I'm just looking for the shorty headers that bolt in place of the stock manifolds, and connect to the existing downpipes (not long-tube headers, that would need to be cut into the exhaust). "Smog headers," some people call them. Joe

    Exhaust ideas for my GN...

It was a struggle to get it all to fit in there, but it's all installed and working. I'm not overly-pleased with the shop that did the work - they welded things that I asked to have clamped, and they somehow managed to put 30 miles on the car :r :mad But the system does work quite well. I...

    Crankcase breather grommet

Sounds silly, but where can I get a new grommet for the breather tube hole in my passenger's side valve cover? NAPA had nothing except the PCV grommet that goes in the driver's side. And it wasn't even the right one, anyway - wouldn't fit the hole in the cover, let alone accept the breather...

Not a problem. It's the thought that counts, anyway :) Joe

    Exhaust ideas for my GN...

Uh, it sort of is, since I'm looking for headers for the Shark, not the GN :) It's still "for sale," if someone offers me a good price. Until then, I'm in no hurry. Joe

    Exhaust ideas for my GN...

Well, it's currently at the shop getting the exhaust installed. The guy has had a bit of trouble getting all the bends made to clear the rear axle, and still line up with the crossflow muffler, but I went up there and we both stared at it for a while... think we have it sorted out to where it...

Exhaust ideas for my ... Shark!

Shorty headers w/o heat riser Which shorty headers will and won't bolt up with the heat riser butterfly removed? I want that dang thing gone, but I need headers that will connect to the exhaust, directly... Thanks, Joe

    Exhaust ideas for my GN...

Thanks. I'm going for a bit more of a "sleeper" deal with this car, so I want to keep the noise down to a reasonable level. I'll probably pull the cat and install an electric cutout sometime down the road, so I can crack that remotely if I want to make some noise... Joe

    Exhaust ideas for my GN...

Thanks. Basically, I'm somewhat nervous about this, because I've never seen a one-in, two-out muffler used in place of a y-pipe... Joe

    Any thoughts? Joe

    Exhaust ideas for my GN...

Well, my cat-back exhaust is pretty much shot. I got an extra year out of it by welding patches over the holes in the y-pipe, but the patches are starting to fall off, so I'm looking to replace it, and trying to find a better solution than the Hooker exhaust that's on there. For those who...
