    Question: Wheel noise

Good point. Rear Diff noises were an issue with early C6s. My 2006 needed new posi lube also when it was still relatively new - had forgotten about that.

    Question: Wheel noise

Maybe: Cold weather, wide front tires, cold pavement = popping, creaking noise as the front tires bite and break loose during tight turns at slow speeds while cold. One of the "benefits" of Vette ownership and Super High Performance Summer Tires. Btw, what tires are on your Vette? Does it make...

[SPY PHOTOS] Mid-Engined Corvette Caught Winter Testing with ZR1 Prototypes

I'm kinda, sorta hoping it is a Cadillac. Either way, I intend to own one after they get into production.

C4 Z07 option how to tell

:welcome As you noted in your first post, big brakes and adjustable shocks do not make a ZO7 C4. Even the anti-roll bars can be swapped out for the bigger ZO7 bars. ZO7's came with 275 tires all around as well as 17x9.5 wheels. Those can be changed out also. If you still have the original...

    LS3 Intake Tube Expansions

I was told that the extra chambers on the air intake are sound suppressors - mufflers - to quieten some objectionable noises. The LS3 needs them while the LS7 does not due to the larger engine size. Did I get it right?

    Important! Weather Change

Michelin makes an all season tire that looks pretty good but it isn't available in all Corvette sizes. Check out the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ ZP. Tirerack says they are available in Z51 sizes. They are not available in ZO6 or GS sizes. As for driving in the cold with the Cup tires - or Super Sport...

Help! Valve guide wear on ZO6 427 engine

Last I heard, if your haven't experienced any valve guide issues by 15,000 miles, you're probably not going to. I've got 40K on my 427 and it's still going strong.

Should the C8 Corvette Come With a Manual Transmission as an Option?

Two out of three cars in my garage are stick-shift and I really enjoy driving them. Both are rare now. If I were to buy a new Corvette (ZO6) it will definitely be automatic. Therefore, I think, the mid-engine C8 ought to forgo manual transmission installations.

    Wheels/tires for autocrossing

Tire choice depends on the class you plan to enter also. If you have to use stock size tires and wheels - it would be nice to know before spending the extra money. Also, there are autocross specific tires you can get - again: what class do you want to race in? Have you been to an autocross...

New Body-Colored Vents are now Optional on the 2017 Corvette

I'm thinking that maybe GM could just place all the vents in the trunk/hatch of each new C7 and let the new owner decide which ones he wants painted black or body color or whatever and let the dealer decide how much to charge for painting them. Maybe I want the hood vent black or red and the...

Mid Engine Corvette Code Named "Emperor" to Bow as a 2019 Model

You think the mid-engine Vette is just a smoke screen for a mid-engine Caddy?

Mid Engine Corvette Code Named "Emperor" to Bow as a 2019 Model

Shades of Corvette and XLR production - sounds like GM is going to add a second line at Bowling Green for mid-engine Corvette and Cadillac cars along side the current front engine C7. It that happens, they plan on mid-engine Vettes and Caddy's to be low production halo cars.

Site Update: 2014 - 2017 Corvette: Service Bulletin: Clicking Noise from Front and/or Rear Wheels - (Aug 23, 2016)

The CTS V2 has a similar bulletin and I hear a clicking noise from the front on my 2011 V Wagon when I leave my driveway. I've accepted it as a badge of V ownership and not worry about it. It's pretty random anyway - at least on my V. What surprises me is that GM hasn't found a 'fix' for...

Need advice 1964' Stingray : Mandatory first parts & maintenance list for a long dormant barn/garage project car.

Many years ago, I inherited a car that had been sitting in a garage for only 5 years. Just to make it a driver (and not a very good one), I did the following: 1. I had to get the brakes working properly - rebuild the master cylinder and the wheel cylinders, new shoes, etc. 2. Next was fuel -...

    Taking pride in your profession!

I'm a Mike Rowe fan also. There are a lot of jobs out there that look awful but there are people doing those jobs that take pride in their work and do them very well. After 23 years in the Air Force, I had plenty of chances to work at different jobs. Most I liked but some were hard to take...

Site Update: 2014 - 2017 Corvette: Service Bulletin: #13-03-10-001D: Information on Tire Cold Weather Cracking

While this bulletin is specific to C7s and newer Cadillac models, it is a warning for those of us that have replaced the old PS2 tires with the new Pilot Super Sport tires - like me. Both my Vette and my CTS V have Super Sport tires now. Generally, neither of them come out of the garage when...

    Networking sites

FaceBook: Well, I'm on FaceBook now. Besides staying in touch with friends and family better now (!), I'm making contacts with companies that let me set up book signing events with them. Not a lot of sales yet but total strangers have now heard about me and my book. That's something...

Question: Using the wider ( 9 1/2") on the front of a 1933 ZT 1

No problem! With the introduction of the 17" wheels (1989), the C4 received 9.5" wide wheels on all four corners and the 275/40 tire - except the ZR1 which got the 11" wheels on the rear. Too many people complained about the C4 wandering on the highway so GM decided to put narrower front tires...
