Funny none of the British members chimed in.:confused
I drive Thunder across Europe to England every year and have never had a rainless trip.
The only problem I have is with the Toll booths in France. The exit is always on an incline and the roof ends just where Thunder shifts into 2nd so I go...
Call Callaway direct and ask. They have a reputation of being more than helpful to all Callaway owners.
Alfa's (over priced Fiats) are even a joke over here in Euro Land.
Having said that if anybody could ever breath some life into an Alfa then that man would be Reeves Callaway.
If nit picky...
Grumpy,
My ThermalArc 250 all mode welder (Military Surplus) has a Plasma Cutting attachment. It works OK on light stuff. i.e., 4 MM drill pipe but something like a 1/2¨ plate would bog it down.
Thermal Arc does not show this product on their web site so I am guessing that it was built to Mil...
I bought 3 auto darkening helmets from Harbor Freight last. One for both of my Mechanics and 1 for me.
The boys love em... I did not mention that I paid less than $60 each.... he, he, he.:)
You can find your gear ratios here
MPH = TIRE RADIUS ÷ 168 × ENGINE RPM ÷ GEAR RATIO
Note: Tire Radius is distance, in inches, from center of tire to ground.
Note: Gear ratio is rear axle ratio multiplied by transmission gear ratio. Example:
What is the MPH at 6,500 RPM with a 4.90...
I have a ThermalArc 250 that I bought secondhand from the Navy. It came with a Plasma Cutting tip that works good up to about 3/16¨, the wire feed and foot control. A year or so back a transistor popped in the control unit and it took 2 months to get it fixed here in Spain.:ohnoes
How did I...
Grumpy; I feel your pain. When the minor race classes come and go they always have tons of tools and no market.
For some ¨unknown¨reason they always show up at my shop with lots of tools that I will probably never need.... I usually buy what ever they have.:D
Thunder has an X-brace from an '88 vert and the beefed up torsion bar from the trany to the 3rd member. I still get a lot of flex but the 383 is throwing out in excess of 450 ftlbs of torque.
I have only removed the top one time for the wife's birthday 2 years so it is really a non issue here...
Give me any C4 with a good frame, $15000 and a few weekends; I will give you a Beemer eating, Porsche ****ing, Italian Intimidating animal that will out accelerate, out brake and out corner any of the new pony cars and most of the mega buck Euro exotics.
Or give me a low mile stock ZR-1 and I...
How to stay alive on a Classic British Bike:
Check the forks, replace the seals if leaking and change the fork oil. Every year.
Rebuild or replace the shocks as soon as they feel soft.
Check the brakes. levers, cables, cylinders, etc. and change the fluid. Every year.
If you have spoke...
You have a true collectors bike. From the photos I have not seen a better one in years. It may never be a one of a kind but it will always be special. Hold on to it!
I paid $600 for the Wide Case Ducati back in the 80's and spent a couple of grand making it perfect. When I let the museum...
I do not think that it is an 02 sensor problem but that is easy enough to check with a simple voltmeter. Do a search on the forum an you will find plenty of info on how to check the O2 sensor. You can also check it with the on board diagnostic feature of the ECM.
How is the coolant level? What...
The repair is an easy job. There are or should I say were 3 Teflon rollers in the gearbox between the drive plate and the gear that drives the light opening/closing mechanism. They are there to protect the motor and light assembly in case it jams. They deteriorate with time and use.
All of the...
Great! It is bike weather; time to go cruising on your Norton.:D
76º and sunny here. We are riding over to Portugal for lunch. 3 hour easy ride each way. One of the group is on a Harley so I am taking both Metric and SAE tools... sure to need both to get him home.:chuckle
