Help! A unique VATS starting problem (86' vette)

What drives me nuckin futty is a car thats been partially bypassed and nobody (new owner, or mechanic) knows...so when there is a failure you might be chasing ghost until you physically see the jumper wire on the enable relay or the resistor in the steering column wire harness...or worse, fixing...

    Question: Needed Maintenance

As suggested, change all fluids, get it up in the air and do a very close inspection of the suspension bushings, all driveline parts, u-joints etc, check wheel hub bearings, and I'd change all the hoses too... Congrats on a great find ! that few miles, its probably in good shape, just needs...

Help! A unique VATS starting problem (86' vette)

VATS is the Devil ! Thats what everyone screams when their Corvette or Caddy won't start. Fact is, there are about a thousand things that can cause the starter to NOT engage, energize or even click the solenoid. Multiple ign points, column key switch, column rod, lower column switch etc...

    Help! ac problems 93 vette

I think that 3rd pin has to do with compressor cycling and ECM managing cut out @ WOT or low pressure to protect the compressor. Has the control head been checked or replaced? If the head were faulty it could continue to power the clutch and a dangerous high pressure event could take place...

    Help! ac problems 93 vette

I no longer believe in coincidence as an acceptable explaination for ANYTHING....so in the case of "it was working until the condensor was damaged" and having a high press switch fail at the same time....I'm not buy'n it. Not easily, anyway. What I would be inclined to believe is that with...

    Help! ac problems 93 vette

Wish you had read the FSM before getting this far into it...... Lets assume that you;re standing there with a clean, empty system. Vac system to max (29hg) and hold that for an hr pump running. D/C pump and observe the vac....make sure it stays where it is. Assuming the new orifice is...

    Corvette Mods Questions and more

I understand where you;re at... I'm also D/A but have a few more miles on my chassis...:L older model, I guess you could say. The temptation is always there to jump on the bandwagon and dive in head first when 'mod-fever' strikes. Trust me when I tell you this, that it rarely works out well...

    Corvette Mods Questions and more

What kind of experience do you have with EFI and computer controlled fuel injection? 'cause its a different animal and half the theory that works on carb engines, means absolutely nothing to a fuel injected engine. Do as you will...the engine is only going to do what the computer tells it to...

93 corvette issue with staying running

fuel filter. pressure test. The noid may not indicate inj pulse unless the ecm gets a permission thru the engine actually firing and turning over on its own. No fuel...no fire, no inj pulse.

Knowledgebase Update: 1994 - 1995 Corvette Door Glass Scratching

why this wasn't across the board, I dunno... My 87 does it BAD and my driver side glass looks like it dragged down the road...This has been a long running C4 problem with the outter seal collecting trash and holding it against the glass.

    Warming up car.

The topic is worth commenting about...so here goes., The issue of 'warming up" is an extension of old school technology where the car needed to warm up with its choked carb so it would even pull the load. With the full choke engaged the motor was so rich and starved for air to the point that it...

Help! I also failed smog test HELP

You only missed by a very little....considering all the upgrades to that engine I think you did darn good ! its just slightly rich...... Clean the air filter, if the oil is old change it. Old oil holds hydrocarbon fumes that are released when running and hot. get the engine to run at 220-230...

    Fuel System O-rings

Most O-ring kits sell the inj set separately from the "rail-set" so check on that. The rail set are different and contain CS valve rings and the 2 small rings for the steel fuel lines. I just replaced o-rings because of a gas leak from the regulator block to the rail,. old ring (black style)...

Fuel Problem Just Not Finding Same Symptoms

Theres a good chance the additives caused the problems but not as you think... they may have loosened crud and gunk that was stuck to the tank, sock and allowed it to travel to the filter where it now plugs and limits the flow. If its burping, stumbling as you give it gas...then its almost...

    battery drain 1985

Glad you got it figured out !:thumb These things aren't yer grandfathers Oldsmobile, are they? As powerful and with all the advances in technology for engine control and management, it often comes down to a dirty contact where some resistance in the circuit causes the ECM to run the car...
