Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Fixing someone else's screwup is never fun :(.
The last time we had my SR off (redoing intake gaskets) he went with the from-inside method. He didn't use nuts, but longer bolts and loc-tite. He drilled the plenum holes and tapped the runner holes and...
Not sure which smells better, the odor of rubber or victory over new mustangs... but I'm hoping to not have to take off the SR for a good long time. There's a cool-looking intake by FIRST (http://www.firstfuelinjection.com/products.htm) which I may get if I do have to remove/replace anything...
I can do PayPal, sure. PM me your account info. I'm not planning to do this one myself; I had the slave replaced last year with an aftermarket that's since needed replacing TWICE (at mechanic's expense). I told him if it died again I'd get a genuine GM for him instead. Mine was apparently...
I've got one of the newer models; I don't think it's the SS but it has the same features (and is flash-upgradeable). It replaced my original GTech Pro (the one without any real controls). I like it. I haven't looked at the HP feature yet, but at the strip the tach reading was right on, and...

Sounded awesome in the drift video, too... best sounding Ricer in the world :)

1. Try replacing the mirror switch in the center console. The part that selects which side to adjust goes bad. Mine actually fell apart when I removed it.
2. The cornering lights only come on when your headlights are on (at least in my 86). Have you tried your turnsignals at night?

Indeed, the windshield header mounting bolts are in a different place. You can get kits to update an early C4 to use later tops, but I've not seen one to use an eary top on a late C4.
