DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS?

Does anyone know where I can get a day time running light module that will simply plug into my C4 rather than using a universal unit that requires me to cut into the wiring. In Canada day time running lights are the law so I have no choice but to do the work. I conacted my GM dealer only to find that the OE unit is no longer available. Any help is appreciated.

Forgive me for stating the obvious, you could just manually turn your headlights on whenever you go out for a drive. That's what I do with the driving lights. California does not require day-time running lights, but I turn them on because I like how the car looks with driving lights on and headlights off.

This way you don't have to pay through the nose to some mechanic to butcher the wiring in your car. (All mechanics on this forum who are gentle, caring and careful with our cars excepted.)

No can do, its the law here, all registered vehicle must have day time running lights. Without them the DMV will not issue licence plates for the car. I bought this vehicle in Michigan where its not required. This model was sold in Canada and as such was equiped with the DTRL's. There is even a place to plug the module in right in front of the rad. Your vehicle will have the plug to. The General no longer stocks the part so what I'm looking for is an aftermarket unit that will do the same thing.

Was yours purchased in the US? What about online GM parts retailers? They sometimes buy up stock and still offer parts that dealers indicate are no longer avail...?

I'm a little confused about the law you're referencing. Your stating flatly "all" cars must have DRLs there without regard to year or country of origin/destination? No grandfathering of older vehicles like say a 1972 Corvette or a 1946 Willys Jeep?

Gotta love politicians!!! Have you tried looking on E-Bay?

OT, how low did you go with the front of your vette?

Do you hit alot of stuff with it low like that?

No requirement for DRLs in Canada on vehicles built prior to December 1, 1989.

You won't see them on mine, but I do favour them. ;)

Aye. My '86 doesn't have them, My GF's '93 Suzuki doesn't have them as the DRL module burned out and we didn't replace it (paper clip bypass once I found the circuit diagram on Alldata).

When did GM put DRLs as standard on all vehicles built for N. America?

I don't know if this will help but I've heard of people swapping out the 34 watt driving light bulb for a 50 watt. You have to change the fuse from 10 amp to 15. I guess it's supposed to make an improvement in night driving but I don't know if this will satisfy the DRL requirement. ;shrug

daytime light law

Some clarification.
Vehicles imported into Canada have to be inspected before licensing is permitted.
This inspection involves starting the vehicle to see what if any lights are AUTOMATIC on.

I think you're in a tough spot.

If GM is discon. on that part...not uncommon with C4 parts, today...you need to find a wrecked Canadian export Corvette and get it's module or...

You could rig-up a temporary wiring modification you could put in place just for the inspection that powers the fog lights through a relay controlled by the ignition, ie: when you turn the key to run, the fog lights come on.
