I've been giving rides between snow storms when the roads are dry... I'm going to start calling this car "The Happy Machine," because everyone who rides in it comes back laughing hysterically from the ridiculous amount of torque and power - it's the funniest thing you've ever seen. I should put...
Just check the function as follows: With the engine and tranny at operating temperature and the engine idling in neutral, depress the clutch, wait about 5-7 seconds, and then put the transmission in reverse. It should go in with no grinding. If it's grinding after more than 7 or 9 seconds of...
Hib is correct: The pedal free play should be adjusted to about 1/2 inch - there is specific instruction for this both in the Assembly Instruction manual (AIM) and in the Service Manual.
Check to see if there is any adjustment left on the threaded adjusting rod or if it's adjusted to the end...
Thanks for all the kind comments - very much appreciated.
I kept all receipts for expenses (which I have yet to add up), but I didn't keep track of hours - that would be a frightening number... it was every single evening after work and every single weekend for 3-1/2 years. That many hours...
Hi Gary!!! Great hearing from you! Yes, I believe if you have a Roadster and you EVER put the top up, the car should be taken away from you and you should be issued a K-Car station wagon:
Here’s my daily driver ’85 at work. We’re scheduled for snow again tomorrow, and I’m having it fitted...
If you look at the photo, you can see the entire body is wavy on every panel - somebody took a DA to it and hacked it. Also, the body is actually 2 cars spliced together in the middle, and they didn't get the joint angle right: I had to cut the car almost in half to properly align the rear...
The suspension was kept nearly stock - the factory rubber bushings work very well, and street tires don't have enough traction to put enough g-loads into them to compress them, making urethane a bit over-rated for a street car. I did put a big 1-1/8" diameter front stabilizer bar on it and a...
Here is the PCV system design:
The intent was to have a functioning PCV system without cutting any holes in the original “script” aluminum valve covers. The ’64 used a PCV installed in the oil filler tube, but this could not be duplicated using the Victor intake manifold. Since valve cover...
..and that was the "Reader's Digest" abbreviated photo essay - you wouldn't believe the whole ordeal: I get shell-shock flashbacks every time I look at all the photos... I'm so glad it's over.

I'll post up some pic's of the PCV system used on the engine so I didn't have to...
Yes, I knew about the problems when I bought it - the reason for my low-ball price offer that offended the previous owner, who was unaware of the issues and problems. The car was originally an East Coast car - the reason for the condition.
I have a lot of photos, but most of the details would...
The HEI is self-contained -you don't use an external coil. Keep in mind you cannot use your existing "+" wire to the old coil to power the HEI, because your existing wire is a resistor wire - you have to run a 12-gauge wire directly from your fusebox "IGN" source to power the HEI.

Since most of you C3 guys don't visit the C2 Forum much, here is a link over to "the other side" with a sequential photo essay of my '64 restoration process...
I just completed a 3-1/2 year ordeal with the resto-mod of my ’64. This was a very rough car, and it probably couldn’t have been parted out since there weren’t any parts on the car good enough to sell… I ended up disassembling the car and every component assembly down to the lowest possible...
The LS swap certainly has a lot to offer, but in terms of complexity, it's an order of magnitude more difficult than a basic 383 exchange or even a BB swap - it's a bit beyond the capability of most weekend enthusiasts...

I, too, agree with John and Hib. In fact, most 454 passenger car engines that you're going to come across at a reasonable price will be 1973 and newer. These are low compression engines, and most of them are in the 250 horsepower range (A common find is a '74 Monte Carlo 454, which is rated at...
You're absolutely right - I had my years mixed up. 1974 used the VIR system, which combines the Expansion Valve, POA Valve and accumulator (which also acts as the Receiver-Drier) into one component that looks a lot like the earlier POA-system with separate expansion valve used through '72. The...
