The electronic dash in my 84 had developed the habit of going dark. When it does this, both turn signal indicators come on steady. Several good hard raps on the glareshield will usually bring it back. I guess its time to get it rebuilt.
The horn relay is activated by two sources to ground. One is the alarm. Since that works, you know the realy is good. The other source to ground is the horn switch in the steering column. I would remove the horn button and begin there.
What other changes did you make? What about the idle? Could you feel a difference in acceleration? Did you change the chip?
Should have the car running by Wednesday, hurricane permitting.

Hallelujah I found it. It does go to the Dist cap in the position marked Tach. What threw me is that it is about a foot longer than it needs to be and you can't really tell what color it originally was. Thanks everyone for your help!!
I pulled the engine from my 86 about two years ago to rebuild it. One thing led to another and here I am two years later reinstallig it. I took lots of photos but not of this wire. It has a black device in it that looks like a filter or capacitor. It comes out of the rear harness near the oil...
The contactor coil is part of the relay. To make the relay work, the contactor coil, which is an electromagnet, is grounded. This closes the main contacts in the relay. This way, the high current is not carried by the switch. Hope this helps.
