Well, it sounds like you are going about it the right way. If you run a search on frame off restorations there's alot of info. I remember seeing someone had a video of the process. It was either here or on another vette forum, not sure.
I had thought about pulling mine off of the frame...
I bought the 75 AIMS along with the 78 AIMS. I just really don't like them especially since I have nothing there to begin with. Using them along with things like the pics that Nobodycares posted help me to put what the AIMS pics are showing in perspective.
On something like this, I haven't...
Looks like you have your work cut out for you on this one. As far as you've stripped it already, why not go ahead and pull the engine or engine and tranny. You can check everything out more thoroughly outside the car plus that'd allow you to repair and repaint engine compartment. You are...
I got my parts in and have started the project of converting my 78 to vert. I have tried searching for old threads but most of the pics don't come up any more.
Can I get some pics of inside the rear compartment on some convertibles so that I can compare as I try to install these parts and...
OK, the front one is suppose to pretty easy and straight forward on how it mounts. Post a pic and let us know how it goes. I am thinking of adding this to mine also along with the rear spoiler.
Mine had one on it when I bought the car with a hi rise intake. I quickly found that the hood was resting on it and blocking alot of the air intake. If you have the stock intake it should work. I went to an air cleaner that dropped down around the carb a little lower than this one did and now...
Got some time to kill, look at the feedback. Several buyers have multiple purchases of it. One in particular "hedgevette" has his own ebay restoration service for purchase on ebay for 40K. I doubt that these buyers are purchasing multiple copies for "novelty" purposes only.
The other VINS are hidden. I think there's one on the frame but the body would have to be lifted to see it. Call up Highway Patrol and get with the auto theft task force guys. They know exactly where to look and will probably check it for you.
I just wanted the soft top for the convenience if I was out and got caught in rain. If I buy one it'll be because I found a deal. Will probably just get a cockpit cover and store in the back in case of rain.
It's going to be a 5 sp. I just read some posts on here of guys having vibration problems with the tranny and I just don't want to pay that much money and have problems. More that I check in to it that probably is the way to go.
I am still debating getting an LS1/ tranny pulled out of a camaro or GTO and doing a swap. I am starting to lean back more to something like this http://www.crateenginedepot.com/store/FastBurn-350-Crate-Engine-425HP-with-Hot-Cam-Installed-12496769-HOT-CAM-P962C53.aspx
I have even toyed with...
