    84 w/CF won't start

CTS Vigman, Thanks for the offer, but I have one on another manifold. I may even go to pepboys and buy one. I read somewhere where the replacements even have a retro fit connector. Yes, I did adjust the IACs to just under 1 1/8th inch. Still did not seat after my 20 mile drive. Twinnie said...

    84 w/CF won't start

CTS Did a little reading on the CFI vault between messages and found that it is the coolant temperature sensor. The cts isn't connected. The connector is hanging loose somewhere in the engine compartment. Sounds like something I need to fix ASAP. Ken

    84 w/CF won't start

Short ALDL? Ok, I'll try that. Ignition on?? Thanks for the offer of IACs anyway. I think part of my problem is electrical now. Yes I do have a brand new OBD I scanner, but thanks for the offer. Haven't used it yet but sounds like the perfect time to try it out. The internet sure has made...

    84 w/CF won't start

Took it for a 20mi ride The ran fairly well for the twenty mile ride, but still needs some work. I car idles now but while in drive at partial throttle, the rpms are all over the place. I think I might have an electrical short. Noticed that the dash lights are blinking as well. IACs are still...

    84 w/CF won't start

Close but no cigar My 84 is an automatic. IACs were purchased from NAPA. Looks identical to the ones I replaced. These are the injectors I have: L83 injectors (350 Cross-Fire) GM5233770*RPD (rear) GM5233775*RPD (front The intake was purchased from someone on the CF Injection Vault and the TB...

    84 w/CF won't start

Drive over 35? >ushould save some money up and change it over to tune port< I just consider the source and let it go. There are some who subsitute opinions for knowledge. AS far as the IAC's are concerned?? Do you have to drive at this speed for more that a few seconds? I got it up to 40mph...

    84 w/CF won't start

IACs Ok, relearning will be the next task. Put in the new IACs, but the pintle didn't reach all the way to the hole. The instructions mentioned making it shorter but nothing about making it longer. I didn't want to do anything until I asked. Got any suggestions? You can definitly hear the...

    84 w/CF won't start

Timing Set I was at home this moring so I started the engine and once it was warm enough to idle, I disconnected the suspect wire. The engine immediately reacted by slowing down even further. I set the timing to 6bdc as the radiator label indicated and reconnected the suspect wire. The idle...

    84 w/CF won't start

MAP Sensor Vigman, Thanks for the info, I'll check it out ASAP. I think I may have found the offending wire. There is a light colored wire with a shovel connector pulled out of the wiring harness that appears to go to the fire wall. Would the lack of computer controlled spark cause the...

    84 w/CF won't start

IACs Set the timing last night to 6 bdc and it really slowed the engine down. It's now idling between 400 - 500 rpm. How does the RPM increase? Couldn't find the wire to the dist. that service manual refers to, so no wire was disconnected. The ECM can't be conpensating at this point since...

    84 w/CF won't start

CF will Start now Vigman & Twinnie, Time for an update. I went out my local autoparts store and bought an ignition module, hiperformance coil, and 8 new R45ts plugs. When I took out plugs 1,3,5,7 , they had heavy carbon deposits on them. (This was also the side that was dumping all the...

carbon on the plugs. The throttle bodies were disassembled after I got them and cleaned thouroughly. IACs did have carbon build up but were cleaned, as well as the seat in the TB. Pulled number one plug tonight and found that it had a coating of carbon about 1/32" thick. I'm assuming that a...

    84 w/CF won't start

TPS Vigman, When I finally got it started the check engine light went out. Will not start unless I have the throttle partly open. Set the TPS to .525v, ign. on no throttle. When I let off the gas it dies immediately. This is really getting frustrating. Help. Ken

    84 w/CF won't start

TPS What exactly does the TPS do? If it isn't set up properly, what effect would it have? I haven't set it according to twinnie's instructions yet, but will this week. Once I have the engine running, and let off the throttle quickly, it dies. Also, I have notice alot of Black exhaust...

    84 w/CF won't start

All I know about the motor is that it has low milage. When I took the old intake off, the intake valley was very clean. No varnish anywhere. How do you set the TPS? How can you tell if the IACs are working properly? I doubt the motor is an 84, But I could be wrong. I'll trying running the...

    84 w/CF won't start

I finally got the car started on Saturday. All I did to start it was to step on the gas pedal to open the venturies in the TBs and it started. I guess it wasn't getting enough gas to start. Anyway, It runs but not very smooth. I suspect that I may still have a vacuume leak some where. Thanks...
