    Price of the 2009 ZR-1

I couldn't agee more. For me, my goal is to build something with drivability that I wouldn't have to worry about if I ever had the pleasure to encounter one of these, or anything else, for a huge dollar amount less. If you have the cash, by all means go out and get one, I won't blame you, but...

Time to upgrade that old C5

With the new high hp foreign cars coming out, the release of a more potent Viper and the new supercharged Z coming, the need to upgrade those older 345hp-350hp C5 Coupes has become even more apparent to save yourself from being out right embarrassed, or humiliated on the road by an exotic, even...

How much did you pay for your Corvette

Just sold my 2003 ZO6, paid $53200 in 2003. I bought a 30K mile 99' C5 Coupe for the next project paid $19K a nice deal last October.

Hypertech or Diablo Sport or Jet which is the best?

I've had experience with Diablosport only. The customer support is great, and if you do anything like a cam swap, they can email you a tune to be downloaded into your programmer. The only drawback is they can't get it totally exact, with results that would give you a perfect A/F ratio, but they...

    Heater fan has broken blade.

Oops, I may have forgotten an important point. I did mine live. ;)

    Price of the 2009 ZR-1

:L Let's not give GM any information. If they think it is $100k, they will charge $120k at the dealer ;)

    Heater fan has broken blade.

I almost fell over when I saw what they use to balance these fan wheels with. They use small staples as weights. The problem is that any out of balance causes premature motor bearing failure. This could be the cause of the vibration and noise. It was in my case. The swap is extremely easy. Just...

    Excessive Oil Consumption?

Nice post Ron. That's basically the way I see it. As I said, I have the catch can installed. The can has clear tubes running from the oil valley tube to the can, then out to the PCV valve. At idle, I have seen oil in the tube travel from the main oil gallery (valley tube) into the can. Without...

    2008 ZO6 Upgraded!

I think we are all still learning about these cars :) I try to stay involved as much as possible. Hib is correct about the drivetrain loss. I usually use .85 for the drivetrain loss. If it were an automatic shift, .80 might be the case. I'm building a SDPC L92 427 right now and I'm doing...

    2008 ZO6 Upgraded!

Well I think Norty's numbers are STD PWR and not SAE, because most dyno sheets specify SAE at the top. SAE numbers would be around 3% less than the STD PWR numbers. If Norty's numbers are SAE, then those are slightly higher then usual, but not totally unheard of. I believe you are somewhere in...

    Excessive Oil Consumption?

You are probably going to see some smoke burning a quart every 1200 miles I agree. LJ indicated that there wasn't much if any blue smoke, but there has to be some smoke associated anyhow.

    Catch Can Oil

I don't think it affects upper cylinder lubrication to the extent where there isn't any. The can doesn't trap 100% of the oil, small amounts still pass through in addition to oil vapors to keep upper cylinder lubrication. It is the amount of oil the can catches that is the excessive usage...

    Catch Can Oil

As some of you know, I'm a firm believer in using a catch can with these LSx engines. The amount of oil that gets captured is better off in the can then coating my combustion chambers and intake ports with sludge. Moisture and oil get trapped in the can, not cooked to the inside walls of my...

    Excessive Oil Consumption?

Hey LJ, Read this thread from the CAC C6 forum. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96524 This is what I'm talking about.

    Price of the 2009 ZR-1

Even if it is over $100K, +600HP will be some good power in 2009, but not enough of an impact as the C6Z initially had on its competitors in 2006. I'd be inclined to keep it simple with a piston swap and an F1 Procharger to stay on top till at least 2011 on any older C6Z. Bang for the buck could...

    Excessive Oil Consumption?

The oil has to be going somewhere. If you are not burning it, then it must be leaking on the ground instead. If not, then you must be burning it, it has no other place to go. :) Blue smoke, well something less noticable over time I'd say sounds about right. Hopefully you will get it resolved.

    2008 ZO6 Upgraded!

It means that Dave Hill was right about his guarantee that these engines will be SAE rated for at least 505hp. Norty that looks like that and some. :upthumbs

    Excessive Oil Consumption?

There is a problem with excessive oil getting passed the PCV valve into the intake manifold. To check this oil usage issue, I would remove your air intake duct, hold the throttlebody butterfly open and shine a flashlight in and look for evidence of excessive oil inside the intake manifold. I...
