What oil do you guy's prefer?

I'm sure that Quaker State's new synthetic is good enough to pass the GM4718M test, however according to their spec sheet it does not list it as meeting this spec. So one should be careful about using this oil in a new Corvette under warranty. Pennzoil Platinum not only meets this spec, but it's...

Electron Blue vs. Le Mans Blue!

I am very seriously considering the idea of having my C5 repainted in Electron Blue!

I believe the single Platinum Purple C5 is on display at the Corvette Museum.

    new guy with questions

Congrats, that's a beautiful car! I hope to find an 05 in Magnetic Red in a few years when I can afford to trade up. As far as quarter mile times go, an 05 with the 2.73 rear end gears should do the quarter mile in about 12.7 to 12.9 seconds (in cool weather at a sea level track) and one with...

    2008 4LT - "constrained"

I don't understand why they couldn't have brought it out right away. Same goes with the two new colors (Jetstream Blue and Crystal Red), as they were on constraint the very first week as well, and on the second week they are extremely limited too. I'd be quite angry if I had an 08 on order and...

What oil do you guy's prefer?

I prefer Pennzoil Platinum. The oil analysis results are showing this oil to be an extremely consistent performer, and it's been on sale quite a lot over the past year for some killer deals (such as 99 cents/qt after rebate!)

    Wondering about moving up...

There is a much bigger difference in performance between the C5 Z06 and the standard C6 than you think. I know the C5 Z06 is only rated 5hp higher, but quarter mile results show a much bigger difference. If you look at the real world quarter mile results, a ton of people have gotten their bone...

    2007 Corvette Color Cancellation

I think the new blue is going to be really cool, from what I understand it changes color based on the angle you look at it, much like the Blue Green Chameleon color that came on the Camaros and Firebirds. I had that color on my 98 Firebird Formula and it was amazing, and I got a ton of...

    Mix & Match Tires?

When I first got my Corvette in August 2004 I noticed that the previous owner had put 275-40-17 tires up front, and I didn't like them (followed the ruts too much) plus I was worried about that size of front tire for the upcoming winter, so I went with a pair of Pirelli P Zero Nero all season...

    Tempted to buy a C6.....

I haven't driven a C6 yet, but I've been a passenger in one, and even just that was enough to kick start my C6 fever into a much higher level! I already have been wanting one badly, but after that, it's just gotten much much worse! I figured out a pretty decent plan though. My wife has been...

    C5 "NORMAL" OPERATING TEMPERATURE

My 98 Corvette came from the factory with a 177F thermostat, so combined with the lower fan settings from my dyno tune, I rarely see coolant temps much hotter than 200F. The only time it gets hotter than this is when sitting in traffic a long time with the AC blasting. At highway speeds I...

    C5'ers - Winter Soon

My C5 is my daily driver up here in Toronto Ontario and it sees snow obviously. I have no problems in up to 4 inches of snow with my car, above that and the snow begins hitting the bottom of the car too much. But even at 4 inches, the Pirelli P Zero Nero all season tires I'm running can still...

    10% Ethanol

I consistently see a 10% drop in MPG when I use fuel with 10% ethanol in it compared to the other premium fuels here. But unfortunately I need to use 94 octane in the summer to avoid detonation (I had more timing advance put in at lower rpms in my last dyno tune) so my only choice is Sunoco 94...

How do you tell a 07 from an 06??

If the car is equipped with the 3LT package, it'll now have radio controls on the steering wheel. This was not available in 2006. Also, if you see a two tone interior on a coupe/vert, that just became available in 07 too (you could get two tone interior on an 06 Z06 though). Another way to tell...

    Any recommendations on Z51 package?

I finally had my very first ride in a C6 yesterday! This one had the Z51 package on it too, and I can tell you honestly that it did not feel any more stiff on the bumps than my C5 which has the base suspension! When I buy a C6 next summer (or the following summer) I will have no qualms about...

    04 vs 05

I disagree. The C6 is a lot more refined than the C5 in many ways. They took what was already an awesome car (the C5) and improved it immensely in every respect. I cannot wait to own a C6, GM did a fantastic job on it.

    Limited Colors

Actually, they didn't discontinue Daytona Sunset Orange halfway through the model run, it was only in about the last 3-4 weeks of production. They most likely did this because they started painting a few cars in Atomic Orange a little bit earlier than the actual beginning of 2007 production, so...

    Limited Colors

It might not be rare, but it sure is a beautiful color! In fact if I were lucky enough to be able to order a new C6 right now, it would be in Monterey Red with titanium interior just like this one below:

    Limited Colors

Red Jewel is actually Monterey Red. They started painting some 2005s that color a little early and Red Jewel is the actual name of the color (according to the paint manufacturer) while Monterey Red is the color that Chevrolet gave it when they officially introduced it on the 2006 model.
