    Service Column Lock

Drove to do some shopping, got a great parking spot in the garage. Came out an hour later, put in the key and the engine starts. Then DIC shows "Pull Key Wait 10 sec”. Ok I’m good at following instructions. So I wait and try again now I get “Service Column Lock”. Called AAA, waited for 90...

How many C5 owners do we have here?

2000 Black Convertible w/K&N Fliter and Bassani exhaust. Purchased the car one year ago used with 5,000 miles it now has 21,000, it's a daily driver. In fact it's the only car we have now, our other car was in a accident in June and we are waiting for our new 2003 Mini Cooper. Tom

    Front License Plate

I also live in Maryland, close to BWI. I would say that 80% of the Vettes I see on the road don't have a front plate. Right now mine is in the trunk, if I get stopped I'll do what's required, but until then no front plate.

    Daily Drivers

We drive our Vette everyday...in fact it's our only car since the middle of June when our Volvo was totaled in an accident. We do have new car on order, due in October. We’re getting a Mini Cooper handles like the Vette, but without the horsepower. Tom

To Lower or not to lower the C5 ..??

I wouldn't consider lowering the car. My C5 is plenty low. I have found many places in the DC Baltimore area where I will scrape the front end, exits from parking lots and intersections when crossing highly crowned roads. The most annoying is my driveway. I have to back in to prevent from...

C5 Wave Exempt to older vettes?

My experience would indicate that the non-wavers are evenly spread over all models C3, C4 and C5. Now is it just they are being snobs, are unfriendly, or not paying attention to what or who is around them. I make it a point to always wave. The hard part is when you are on 4 lane highway with...

    Synthetic Motor Oil Change

My understanding is that then going to Mobil 1 after using fossil based oil you can expect to have leaking from the engine seals and gaskets. Tom

    Noise dB

Chevy Suburban to a Mini is like a tub boat to an oceanliner. Tom

    Noise dB

Robert: It didn't sound like a Vette by any means. The base model has only 115 HP, the S has 165 and can do the 0-60 in 6.9 seconds, not bad for a little car. It was very comfortable, and like I said the handling was really good. I was solid in the curves just like my Vette. My wife is now...

    Noise dB

Robert: Thanks for the long answer and the explanation. I did follow it all. As it turns out we did drive a Mini this afternoon and you are right horsepower = noise. It was a great ride and it handled very well. No doubt that Road & Track was correct in saying that it was fast in the 700 Ft...

    Noise dB

Does any one know what the dB levels are in the Convertible, at idle and 70 mph? I looked all over and can’t find any test results. My wife is looking a buying BMW Mini and wants to compare the noise specs and the Mini to the Vette. Thanks Tom

Would You Support An Official Chevrolet Corvette Driving School?

I support the idea of an Official Chevrolet Corvette Driving School. We own the best sports car made, let's have a way to learn to drive at it's potential.

    interior heat

I had had the same problem with my C5. It's a fact of the life with the engine and transmission located as they are. The solution suggested by other CAC members is turn on the AC. If fact it's never off now, even with the top down tom
