I do not want to sacrifice stopping power, interested in no noise and low or no dust. The manufacturers claims all promise " the sun and the moon "
so it is difficult sifting through the PR.
I'm not interested in a cheap soft lining that will wear out in 10,000 miles nor one that will grind my...
Hi, thanks...
Hawk HPS brake pads are the ones I am considering, I don't mind the sale price of about $85, I'm interested in the best all around pads for every day driving.
A number of parts suppliers are offering discounts on brake pads now. In reveiwing the selections for street driving the prices range from about $30 to $120+. The product descriptions outline the make up and applications but it is real user experiences that would be helpful.
All the mfrs say...
Thanks for the input. I was particularly concerned about my vette which is stored for the Winter. I have been using a Maintainer on my Grand Cherokee which is out at my place in Park City for a number of years without a problem. The Jeep is stored from Feb/Mar until I return in December, stored...
Idle problem experienced and solved
I had experienced an idle problem and seeked guidance here in the forum. I replaced the fuel pump relay (cleared that code), replaced the MAF relays (cleared that code) the problem continued, although I was actually suspecting the IAC valve.... but in a reply...
tire suggestion
The original tires on my 88 C4 lasted until close to 40,000 miles but I was never pleased with them I replaced them with DUNLOP SP Sport D40 M2 P275/40ZR17 and I love them. They aren't lasting as long (softer rubber) but they are better on wet roads and stick better in the...
In the past storing my C4 I always disconnected the battery during Winter storage. Then when Battery Maintainers came on the market ( not trickle chargers ) I would still disconnect the battery.
Can the battery stay connected ( retaining ECM settings ) while using a Maintainer which shuts...
code 33
According to the ACTRON Code Scanner guide a code 33 refers to either the MAF or the MAP. it states " Engine mis-fire or unstable idle may cause this code". Also, in my FSM on page 6E3-A-42 it refers to the MAF sensor circuit.
starts up and dies
I have been experiencing this same problem on my 1988 C4 with 53,000 miles. It will start right up then die if I don't hold down the accelerator. I can keep it running but as soon as I lift my foot.. it dies. So far I had replaced the air filter and the fuel filter, I did get...
fuel pressure regulator location
I have Probst " CORVETTE FUEL INJECTION " book and according to it the FPR is located on an LT1, LT4 at the end of the fuel rail assembly at the rear. On a '97-98 LS1 it is between the fuel rails and on '99-01 LS1 it is integral in the fuel filter.
Won't hold an idle
Thnx Tom94,
I'll try that today...bliping the throttle. The only error code readout I had previously was a 54 indicating fuel pump relay. I replaced it and in error said the fuel pump regulator in my last reply. Now I get a clean 12 reading but the start problem persists...
adventures of Tom94
Hi all, I have been following the adventures of Tom94. I also have been conversing with the guru GMJunkie. My 88vette starts right up but won't hold an idle ( replaced air filter, fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator ). I get no code readouts other then 12. You suspect...
starts and dies
Hi , I'm experiencing the same problem with my '88 C4 ( 50,000 miles ). First I replaced the fuel filter and the air filter, checked the throttle body and it is clean. Got a code 54 reading on the OBD, so I replaced the fuel pump relay ( very easy ). Again, she starts but dies...
Hi thanks for the quick response. I didn't suspect the battery initially because the car would fire right up, repeatidly. in fact when I opened the hood to replace the fuel pump relay the under hood lights were on strong. Once I replaced the relay...no lights, no dash lights, nothing when I...
I recently encountered a problem where upon starting my C4 in normal fashion, she would start right up then die. This happened over and over again...start up then die. I ran an onboard diagnostic and got a code 54. I then checked with Tony's Corvette here in MD. he said to see if battery voltage...
