I was wondering where you guys buy your tires???

I'm looking for a new set and doing a little research and looking for a few suggestions.

Thanks,
Kyle

I try to buy local...small town, you know. But they need to be competitive. TireRack.com seems to have reasonable prices as does DiscountTiredirect.com

I printed the prices for a set of Z06 size Firestone Wide Ovals from Tirerack, went to my local Firestone dealer and they matched the price.

tire suggestion

The original tires on my 88 C4 lasted until close to 40,000 miles but I was never pleased with them I replaced them with DUNLOP SP Sport D40 M2 P275/40ZR17 and I love them. They aren't lasting as long (softer rubber) but they are better on wet roads and stick better in the turns. I used to have to cross a bridge with steel grate surface, the original tires would be "squirrely" the Dunlops would track straight. I now have 52,000 on my '88.

I talked to several local shops they all suggested buying online. Weird but I'm okay with that.

So, I purchased a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus today from www.tirerack.com. I'll let you guys know how they turn out. If they don't work out for me on the Vette I'll put them on something else or sell them.

Have any of you had any experience with these?

Kyle

I try to use a local tire shop but I bring TireRack information with me when I talk to them. Sometimes the local guys can make the price worth using them totally and sometimes they tell me to buy from TireRack. Either way, the local shop gets the installation.

I have used Michelin PS A/S ZP's (run-flat) on my 2003 and I thought they were great. I have not tried the non-run-flat version of them but I would think they would be even better.

I have used Goodyear F1 D3's on my C4 and was very, very happy with them. I have F1 D3 EMT's on my CTS-V and I'm very, very happy with them.

However, I think you will like the Michelin A/S tires.

The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires are some of the best I've ever put on any sports car.

They handle, and grip great and the ride quality has greatly improved over the wide ovals that were on the car when I bought it.

I just put on 4 Kumho Excsta's from TireRack. My second set from them. Great ride and price. Jegs and discount are also good. Check em all.

I'm with Tony. Got new Kumhos and couldn't be happier.
