I've used a vinyl dye on my whole interior and am very pleased with the results. As with any paint job, preparation is the key to a good finish.
I'm not sure how it matches a factory colour, but I wasn't after that sort of result.
Rick...One of the best tips I saw was from Van Steel. They placed a 9/16"socket between the TA and the lower frame so that there was no load on the TA bolt. If you're banging away under there you might want to tape the socket in place onto the TA.
I neither used vise grips nor did I have any one...
Chris...does Dave's car already have small rear flares on it? Please keep us posted on your work on the new flares. I'm very interested in doing my own too. Lots of pics.
Thanks
Plenty of Penetrene (WD-40) and just punch them out with a long solid drift. I guess I was fortunate in that mine came out relatively easily compared to some of the horror stories I've read.
Good luck.
Yes thanks Ken. He's got a Doc's appointment on Thurs to possibly get the wires taken out....tho I'm sure my wife would prefer they just put more in.:D
You're right in that Holden is a GM affiliate, but they unfortunately don't align themselves too much with any of the more interesting cars...ie American ones. Some Holden parst are American derived as you may guess, but finding which ones are is the fun bit.
My 19 y/o son is into the Jap cars...
Redmist...Buying a rebuilt assembly is not an option over here. Consider yourself very fortunate that you can just mail your old ones away to someone who'll send them back to you all nice new and clean.
Dave M...Thanks for the offer, but for what I wanted to see neither the AIM nor Haynes...
While scratching around under the now very spacious area where my rear end used to reside, I thought I'd just shove my hand around and over the petrol tank to see what might be there.
Would you believe that there seems to be some paper stuck to the top of the tank? Could this be the much talked...
The whole Hog
Chris...yeah I've got the bearing assembly apart as well as everything else in the arse of the car!:D There's nothing left that's still in one piece.
I was able to check under another Vette yesterday and what I'd thought was correct. The assembly does sit flush with the trailing...
Thanks for the help guys. The main reason I'm asking for assistance is that I'm unsure of one part of the TA assembly. The AIM is no bloody good at all in this respect. Maybe they sent theirs out to Van Steel too! :eyerole
I've got something in the works for a 6 link strut set up and I want to...
Pretty soon I'll be putting my trailing arms all back together. Well hopefully soon. I just want to make sure everything goes back the way it came out.... the right way.
What I'd like is an exploded view or even a nice clear pic so I can see what goes where and also what can be seen so I can...
Poly
Poly all round on my 77. Wouldn't have it any other way. I deliberated long and hard and asked all the same questions. Went with poly bushings and never regretted my decision once.
There are too many variables that dictate rubber is an obsolete option.
My son's injuries
Scott was bashed when he was going to help one of his mates at a club near here one night last week. They are really just quiet ordinary kids (he's 19). His freind was being hit while on the dance floor and he stepped in to stop it, but was attacked from behind. Not only that...
at last some interest!
I was beginning to wonder if anyone was interested at all since there haven't been any replies to my pics all day. I knew you'd appreciate the amount of effort I've put into these T/As so far Chris. I've only done one side so far too. :eyerole
My son (Scott) is doing...
Another pic
Here's a shot from the end of the TA which might show a little better how it's coming along. You can see how I've also strengthened up the top plate just in case I get the urge to fit a 6 point link to my rear end...the car that is.
I'll achieve better progress after I've finished...
Well here're the two T/As as they stand so far. One has had my personal attention for a while now. Every join has been fully MIG welded and smoothed (many times) tho not quite to my satisfaction just yet.
I'll get there soon.
So far all other parts have been cleaned and grit blasted and are...
