Well the test is in and there isn't any resonance that I can tell, just louder exhaust sound. :upthumbs
The idle is more smooth but still runs about 900 rpm, a little high. Will less restrictive exhaust cause the idle to run high?
Thanks for everyone's input! :beer
Well I got my vette back from the shop and here is the current low down...
1. The exhaust has a much deeper and louder sound to it. It now has a distinct "thump thump thump" sound to it where as it was more like a muffled moan with the old cats. :)
My wife was following me back home in our...
Sure enough is... from the Great White North's perspective, but down south where summers are a little hotter :chuckle, people would build sperate buildings to house kitchens so not to heat up the main house... hense the name Summer Kitchen.
I never heard of summer kitchens eather until I moved...
Not a bad hobby, there is another C4 I would love to add to my collection, any of the ZR-1s. (Most beautiful Engine I've ever seen, and not a bad looking body ether. :-)
Unfortunately my garage is a converted summer kitchen and there is barely enough room for my baby.
I'm one for being prepared, who knew that PoC Chargers and Barracuda’s were going to be 100k dollar cars some day. :L
Not to long ago late model C3s were said to not be collectable, I believe their value are going up because I not many of them left on the road. Most have been sent off to the...
Well I ended up ordering Dynomax from Ecklers, it came with the Y pipe and was less than $400. Installation ended up being about $300 but that includes diagnosing the problem, installing a new O2 sensor and AIR system.
None of the main Corvette Parts Retailers sell Random Tech and I was...
Thanks, that's a good idea! I already have the original wheels in storage, I bought exact replacements which were Chromed; to tell you the truth, I like the originals better.
I've read about Random Tech before, thanks for the suggestion. Do you think down the road I wished I kept the exhaust stock or does that really not matter for collectible?
Will replacing the 3 Catalytic Converts with a single aftermarket one hurt resale down the road???
The shop says it can't find OEM Cats for my 89 and wants to replace them with an aftermarket for $1000.00, is that reasonable?
Thanks
Actually the Check Engine light would show it self every now and again but the garage said that they could not find any codes when they connected their diagnostic computer.
After the sensor was reconnected, the light comes on about the same amount of time as it did before.:confused
I had my vette in for a clutch replacement and the garage found that the Exhaust Sensor was disconnected, the guy checked my exhaust tips and there were some carbon there. :ugh
He said that now the sensor is connected I should get better gas mileage, but that statement hasn't come true so far...
Yes, mine does the same thing... I've read somewhere that the contacts need to be cleaned. Who ever said that using a pencil eraser works just fine; unfortunately I've not had the time to test that out just yet.
Good luck!

I absolutely love my 89 with a 6-speed. There is nothing like dropping it down into 4th and feeling that Torque Monster come alive in the engine bay.
Heck, with the gas prices being what they are, its also nice that my vette...
That's totally awesome job your daughter did!
While I was growing up my dad wasn't into cars so I learned the names of the different parts of cars from the building instructions of the model cars that I put together.
Having a dad like you, your daughter may end up being the next Danica...
