If manual transmission was standard, why so few of them?

In the early 80's the majority of Vette buyers were looking for a "touring car" rather than a sports car. Manual transmission sales really slowed down for a while and only recently have risen again as buyers want more input into the driving experience. My wife drove manual imports for years...

    Sidepipes, anyone?

When MN was still testing all cars, they had a big mirror on a pole they would stick under the car and look for the cat. On one of my yearly visits the tech claimed "I had trouble"....missing cat....he had the mirror under the drivers side. I mentioned my '81 was stock (original mufflers and...

    '81 cuts out intermitently???

Thanks for all the replies! I picked up an Ignition Module today at Checker for their internet price of $29.99 vs their retail price of $49.99. Took maybe 30 minutes to install. Most of the time was spent removing the ignition shield from the rear of the engine. So far so good!!! Problem...

    '81 cuts out intermitently???

My '81 cuts out when driving. It happens for a microsecond and sometimes lights the check engine light for a second. The car jolts when it happens (4spd). Today it stopped running. after waiting a few minutes it restarted. Thinking it maybe was a fuel pump I figured I'd start by looking for...

    Dreaded Windshield Frame rust....

I found out that rust was the source of the header leak on a '70 roadster I owned years ago. The glass man was out to replace a cracked windshield and upon removal, a few holes exposed themselves. He was real nice and said he'd come back after I fixed it. I fiberglassed-in the bad areas and...

    Brake Rebuild Started

After waiting 13 years for the calipers to spring a leak, one finally did. When I took it out of storage the brake pedal was soft and I added fluid and waited for motivation and some free time. I was starting to feel guilty driving it anyway. Today, I put it on jack stands....a story on it's...

How To STOP The RUST From Forming...

Keep it off the grass! One time years ago I parked a 70 roadster I had, on the grass next to the garage at my folks condo. About a day or two later the call came in to get it off the lawn. I had the hood up doing something soon after and I "sh^t" when I saw all the rust that had formed on...

Possible Complete loss of my Corvette...

Lesson learned! Always get a cost in advance of work performed. I've been in situations also where someone mentions they can take care of this or that, it'll be "no problem!!"...until the bill comes and yes there is a problem now. Assuming is dangerous Later, JU

    Tracing your Vettes History...

Always interesting to see what pops up when you trace a car's history. On the two vettes I've owned, both were traded within two months of original purchase....... The owners no doubt got caught up in the romance of the car but underestimated the Insurance man! I purchased both cars at 10...
