I am very sure that a clogged a/c condensation drain elbow is the source of your water leak (it happened to me). Water does not drain quick enough and backs-up into the blower case and down onto the computer compartment. It follows the wires and into the computer.
You must raise the right front...
The sensor is located on the passenger side, underneath the radiator air inlet, attached to the bottom of the shroud with a clip. Lay under the front (I know - not much room) and you will see it. A new sensor from the dealer is about $15.00. Just unplug it and install the new one. Check the...
Hello,
I had a similar problem with my 1999 C5 coupe (white also......). The idler pulley (not the tensioner) under the alternator (there are two - the defective one is under the alternator) was defective and caused the squeal / squeak. There was a TSB which instructs the dealer to replace...
Thanks - it must have been quite a scare!
I have both tops for my 1999 (purchased new) and I have the body-color top on now due to the extreme heat and sun where I live. I have often wondered if it will separate like the new tops on the C6.
Good luck. It must be frustrating to deal with...
My 1999 C5 coupe developed a rattle noise from the front of the engine. I took it to Mr. Goodwrench where I purchased it new and had the car serviced. I was told the a/c belt tensioner was bad - I authorized repairs. Then, the dealership called and said the noise was a bad power steering...
Your a/c evaporator condensation drain (rubber elbow) is clogged. You must fix it immediately or you can ruin the car's main computer which is located in the passenger footwell.
This happended to me while driving my 1999 C5 on a vacation trip. It ruined the computer and immobilized the car for...
GarryL,
Welcome.
My 1999 C5 was ordered with the Twilight Sentinel option (US version). The owner's manual has an explanation on how to activate the option with a delay feature that can be adjusted.
Does your manual (Canadian) have this explanation? Perhaps you could adjust the delay...
This only applies to the convertibles. The little birds like to make deposits inside the passenger compartment.
The birds avoid the coupes (with the tops removed) because they are better looking cars.
There was a TSB regarding knock sensors (including the 1998 C5). You can view it here: http://corvetteactioncenter.com/kb/question.php?qstId=261
Good luck.
I'm glad you determined what the problem was. I also had this TSB done on my car under the new car warranty because it would make a strong "rumble" noise when shifting into reverse with the a/c on.
The original alternator did not make a noise - just the "rumble" when shifting out of park and...
I found this out the hard way also. I attempted to renew / purchase an additional GMPP for my 1999 C5 (low miles - expired due to time). Since I didn't try to buy it three months BEFORE the GMPP expired (I tried one month prior to expiration) I could not buy it. I bought the car new and the...
