    My GearVendors OD Just Arrived!!!

Not putting it in till Monday - might be able to let you have a look sometime on the weekend... I should get the car tomorrow or Friday. The heads are back (again) with neglible found (and repaired) problems. This mechanic has the highest of optimism it could make it 500 - maybe even 600...

    Motor mount replacement

I have to speak up for all steel I have the BB ones from Moroso. They are anodized gold. (The pattern is the same, but the material is thicker.) I would avoid chromed ones at all costs. When I was planting this troubled mill, I was cleaning up the chromed SB Moroso's I had put on the first...

    My GearVendors OD Just Arrived!!!

Be glad to, except that might me tomorrow! I'll make a point to take pics before though. If I don't get the car back tomorrow or my tranny guy (wait....something wrong with that term....can't quite put my finger on it..... :D ) won't take it in right off we might be able to arrange something...

    My GearVendors OD Just Arrived!!!

Wow. This thing is so nifty I might have to just keep it here on the couch!!! Well, if I get the heap back with its new head gasket manana, I'll drive it a bit then drop it off at the tranny shop and get ready for 170!!! I can't believe all the stuff that came with it. I opted for the...

    backuplight

Your english is fine....I have a similar weird problem occasionally, but it's not in the backup lights and it's because it was poorly rewired (actually when they got RID of the backup lights....) My problem is between taillights/brake lights/turning signals. When I have a problem like that...

    ? Opinions: motor swap ?

You, Sir, are obviously possessed of godlike wisdom and superior tastes! :_rock I was TICKLED my project '75 already had the late C3 nose and tail on it! I would have done that myself if they didn't! Don't get me wrong I like all of them, but I find the all-glass/no-metal, somewhat...

    Popping / backfiring in carb

Broken cam as in the main engine cam? No way! The engine would destroy itself in a few rotations under that problem. Maybe he meant a cam on the carb linkage? No - he said pull the valve covers to look, so he must mean the real cam...wow...that's silly! Even a worn lobe doesn't do this...

Advice needed on pump to carb fuel pipe

I've heard this argument for 25 years.... Where to put the fuel filter? Camp A says as you do: protect the pump from wear and get the filter further away from heat - so run the filter before the pump. Camp B says: the pump lobes really don't wear much; a filter before the suction pump can...

    VBP caliper sale

Just rebuilt mine before the second to last engine blowup Sorry guy!

    OK Where is it hidden?

You wanna see "bubba" you should see my pedal spring Try that at the over 400 pounds I weighed when I bought the heap! Even today at a svelte 300 I put a bunch of fuses in my mouth when I dive under the dash to switch even one.... ...but when I was rebuilding everything in the dash I...

    Porsche Kill

Doesn't that feel great?!!! For gallantry in defeating the hated Porsche horde.... you will receive the Order of Duntov!!! ------ I'll never forget one of my best kills was with the "original" motor I bought heap with vs. some guy with an stunning brunette in one of the cheapy Porsches -...

    hurtful comment

Wait! Wait! I probably wasn't clear! IRS RULZ!!! No! I meant by that I wanted a car that could take a monster mill transplant that WOULD handle - meaning a C3 vette. Except for cheapy or utility uses, I never intend to buy another non-IRS vehicle. THAT was another thing I got a lot -...

    hurtful comment

I'm just weird....I quickly got tired quickly of people oggling.... ...and mine *IS* ugly!!! (needs paint, needs my lazy coward butt to put on the top I bought two Novembers ago for it....) I have never gotten the "that thing's ugly [or common]" despite what to me are hellish cosmetic...

    A/F Ratio Meter

But I like the pretty LIIIIIGGGHHHHTTTTTSSSS!!!!! :) Seriously, some of that quoted text is simply not correct, at least as regards the output from generic O2 sensors going to A/F gauges - I've never used a specific EGA meter such as from Summit. I hooked up a meter to the leads from mine...

    Rear Sway bar

Oh gawd yes! Like night and day.... wait till you swap the front to the transverse spring thingy and the rear to the dual mount spring too.... Just stunning handling - never driven any car, rental or otherwise, as rock solid. I really can't wait to see what happens when I get some stiff...

    Rear Sway bar

Yeah I got the monster one from VBP....aside from the little plate thingies the ends go on instead of the weird link arrangement the original coat hanger thickness rear one had, I had no problems. I don't remember if I had to enlarge or move any holes for the center two mounts or not - I...

Twin turbo big block first test drive...YES!!

Outstanding!!!! You even kept it carbbed!!! I hope to put an axial blower on the real engine, whenever I can even start on that Holy Grail, but never considered the effort to do turbos, let alone TWINS!!! Incredible guy!!!

    A/F Ratio Meter

The range IS 0-1V, but not what corresponds to 11:1, 12:1, 13:1, etc. The voltage drop may NOT be linear.... I'm also not sure which way is richer/leaner (if no voltage is pegged lean or pegged rich, etc.) As to just splicing on a second device OR the multimeter, I'd be worried about the...

    Done in

Yeah, don't jump to too many horrible conclusions... It's possible you have very little damage at all. Absolutely STOP running it! Bearings and rings tolerate a lot of brief thermal abuse and more age than get damaged from an overheat or short duration low oil pressure (or condition)...

Green fluid seeping out of right front hub

Wow - and I thought *I* was worried about bearings... Well I wouldn't drive it more than around the block to do any repositioning until I plucked open the hubs and regreased the bearings (and, while you're at it, just replace them...) At least the fronts are as accessible as any others -...
