i had borlas on my 86 and i have corsa tourings on my 98. the borlas sounded awesome but i did not enjoy the resonance at certain rpms. the corsas have no resonance at all. i went with the tourings because i will be installing headers and hi-flow cats soon and it should make for a pretty sweet...
dcorings,
congrats on the purchase...you're gonna love it.
judging by your location, i bet your glad you didn't have the c6 a couple of weeks ago.:)
cheers,
i guess they have a right to charge whatever they want for the car. i just think it's totally disrespectful to a very loyal corvette community...not that i can afford one anyway.:)
i opted for the corsa touring with tigershark tips. i went with the touring because i'll eventually be doing headers and cats and i don't want it to be crazy loud.:_rock
as far as the install...it was quite easy. i wasn't crazy about jacking the car 36", so i cut the stock pipes (i knew i...
this is precisely what i was doing when the mirror broke. needless to say, i won't be moving them around anymore...i'll just let the water drip and then wipe it with the chamois.
i know i'd pay a reward for that information...assuming it's less than $240.:D
i did come up with some creative ideas for fixing the mirror, but i'm sad to say that they all failed. so, for now, it stays in one place.:)
i couldn't agree more. there are so many other ways of retaining that spring, such as a lock nut, or welding it in. perhaps it's designed to be a consumable item...a pricey one at that.
went to the dealer today. they wanted $240 unpainted:( ...i'll have to wait on that one. i temporarily bolted it together so i can get to carlisle...looks great, but it's stationary so i have to be careful around that mirror.
thanks for the responses.
that's what i was afraid of...i guess it's one of those things that's just not the best design. my days of rotating the mirrors are over.
drth vtr -- do you remember how much the new mirror cost you? also, was it the motor and everything or just the housing.
today when i was washing the car, i tried to move the passenger side mirror and the spring inside popped out of place. i removed the whole thing and it appears that there's a little metal clip that holds the spring in place. the tricky thing is that you have to compress the spring (very stiff)...
i'm planning on lowering the vette pretty soon, and i understand it will need a four wheel alignment afterwards. does anyone in the nova area no a good shop around manassas/centreville/vienna area?
any info would be great.:cool
thanks,
tom
a couple of other common things (at least on the '98):
1) the oil pressure sending units go bad, giving you a reading of 80 or (130 on the DIC).
2) misc fuel guage problems.
the c5 is an awesome car, good luck with your search...you're going to love it.
tom
morgulvette,
you're absolutely right. that's exactly how i was able to afford my 86 back when i was 24. it was in my price range, but everyone thought i was driving an un-affordable car. corvettes are timeless, and never get "old".:beer
cheers,
tom
