    Help! I'm new..1992 LT1 mis-fire

Maybe its time for a tune up. Plugs, wires, pcv, air filter, etc. Could be weak injectors. Have you done an OHM check on them? Have you performed all the normal maintenance and it is still stumbling? It could be the EGR. Keep us posted.

    Help! Uh oh!!

Circuit boards don't just fry on their own. I would be looking at the wiring for the gas gauge. Is it maybe pinched and grounding out? Possibly a screw is poked through it somewhere. Use an ohm meter and check the plug that connects to the board for a ground. A wiring schematic would be...

    Question: bleeding master cylinder

If the m/c is empty then there is a leak somewhere. You should remove each wheel and inspect the brakes. You might have a leak at a wheel cylinder or there might be a leak in a line. After you install a new M/C you also need to bleed out any air in the lines.

    Steering Weirdness - Need Hypotheses

Even though you have the adjustment tightened all the way on the steering box it may still have some play in it. You can't check for loose ball joints with the car jacked up. Take it to a reputable shop and have it checked on an alignment machine. Most shops will do this for free and tell you...

    Coolant leaking

Yepper it was the water pump. The rear seal was dry rotted and leaking. Drained the rad and the block and still had about a quart of coolant dump out when I pulled the pump. Fortunately the opti is working fine.:)

    Coolant leaking

92 LT1 I have been noticing a coolant smell the last couple of days. Today I popped the hood and the serpentine belt is wet with coolant. There is no noticeable leak anywhere. Probably the water pump.:( Any thoughts?

    Engine Noise

Try running a compression check. If it's low on that cylinder then think cracked piston or dropped valve.

    Loud belt squeal

Just fixed the same problem on my LT1. Turned out to be a bad harmonic balancer. When removed I could turn the center and the outer pulley in opposite directions with my bare hands. I chased this for months! It didn't look like it wobbled all that bad either.

Help! Newbe post. Another 1992 throwing sys, security, service asr lights.

You might also want to clean all the positive feeds connected together just under your battery. There is a ground there too from the negative side of the battery. I had this same problem with my 92. I had a bad ECM. There is a place in California that rebuilt mine, but I am at home and their...

    LTPW light

So maybe the dealer is mistaken on both counts. It isn't normal. Check the pressure to be sure. It could just be low.

    Question: loosing coolant sometimes?

Had this problem with my 92. There was sludge in the bottom of the recovery tank. It would let coolant in but plugged the tube and wouldn't let it suction back to the system. Cleaned out the tank and now it is fine.

Help! Radiator fluid does not return from recovery tank

It is possible that the recovery tank is dirty and plugging the return line. When the car has cooled down remove the tank and wash it out with mild detergent.

Question: What do you recommend for cleaning a engine(internal) without taking it apart.

Dump a quart of gm type auto trans fluid in the crank case. Run it for about a week and change the oil. You will be surprised how clean it will get. I have done this many times with no ill affects.

    Ignition Module Failure....???"

It could be just the distributor. Pull it out and inspect the gear that engages the cam. If that is ok then the next step is to remove the timing chain cover and inspect the chain and gears.

    Ignition Module Failure....???"

Ouch! Sure sounds like it jumped the timing. Have you checked it with a timing light?

Is it simply time for a new set of injectors?

Even if the injectors are ok the seals are most likely shot. I replaced mine at 73000 to Bosch and what a difference! Most of the o rings on the original ones were wasted.

Important! Big problem with my 92 Corvette, does not start! Security lights blinking! HELP!! SOS

If I remember correctly the FSM says the radio is connected to the security system on a 92. This can cause the car not to start. I will have to look this up when I get to the shop tomorrow, but It seems to me it is an easy fix.

    Engine Noise

OK guys this is old school but try it. If your car is an automatic start it up let it warm up then put it in gear and with your foot on the brake rev it up to 1300 to 1500 rpm. If the problem is in the bottom end of the motor you will FEEL it not just hear it. Hope this helps.

Service ASR light, Car won't start.

I had a sys flash intermittently on my 92. Ran every test I could find in the fsm and chased the problem for weeks. It turned out to be the ECM. Got it rebuilt and no more problem!:)
