Lori that really sucks but at least it doesn't look like ours did. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/tlaplante/82/1.jpg
We get air filters at Advanced auto parts, they're under $7 each.
No they won't rust. I think I used some paint remover I had laying around that I used to remove the paint from my rocker covers of course you want to remove those parts from the car first. Spring clips are all that are holding them in.
You can continue to use what has been used in it. But you probably should use the Techron concentrate once in awhile to clean out the carbon.
Hope you get your seat fixed, personally I can't stand the seats in the 82. Wish my wife would let me put some Z06 seats in but it's her car so what she...

In addition to what Kiwi Vet said about the seat switches, the center toggle also raises and lowers the whole seat. If you can get it to adjust to where you are comfortable, I would unplug it so it won't start moving on its own. The plug is underneath the back of the seat.
If your timing is set correctly, your cooling system is in good shape, Q-jet setup right your egr valve isn't leaking and the correct heat range of your spark plugs. I would use the lowest octane i could that did not cause pinging under load. A friend of mine has an L-82 79 dynoed at about that...
I'm curious as to why you would run a higher octane fuel then the L83 motors requires? Since it's only has a 9.5 compresssion ratio the engine does not need the slower burning fuel and since the higher octane fuels will leave carbon build up in your combustion chamber leading to spark knock it...
The only thing I can think of is the hose manifold that connects to the compressor is connected up side down so the compressor discharge is blowing into the suction line and the discharge line is now the suction line. But I have no idea how that could be accomplished. On my 82 it would not be...
This wire is in the passenger side rear compartment on my 82. You may remember this cars drivers side was shredded by a DUI driver 1 1/2 years ago. Its very close to getting back on the road but I don't remember where this wire goes.

Alot of people seem to be having this problem. The fix for now is to switch from FM to AM and back, that seems to clear the problem until GM comes up with a real fix.
Here's a link to someone who had this package done. Doesn't sound like every day drivability is a problem with this package.

The reference is offensive...as to the C5 prices dropping, well maybe that's why the guy bought a C5...seems smart to me...maybe some jealousy is involved, or maybe someone is maxxed out on smoking something.
